Oakdale Takes Second At Bakersfield Rumble

The fifth annual Rumble for the Rig was held at Bakersfield High School this past weekend. Oakdale placed second overall in the tournament with a total of 117 points, 14 points behind host Bakersfield for first place. There were 19 teams from the state participating in the tournament. Oakdale was well represented in the tournament and had four first place finishers and three second place finishers.

Mustangs Heartbroken In Quest For Football’s Blue Banner

The road to a second consecutive CIF Sac-Joaquin Section Championship for the Oakdale Mustangs hit a major road block this past Friday night. The top seeded Mustangs took on Valley Oak League rival Manteca in the 2017-2018 Division III Championship game at Lincoln High School in Stockton, and fell to the number two seed Buffaloes, 34-17.

Lady Mustang Hoops Open Season Strong

Oakdale varsity girls basketball tipped off this past week with a trio of non-league games. Coach Julie Ford and her squad split a pair of road games to begin the season. Oakdale defeated Tokay 47-27 but ran into a buzz saw in Patterson, losing 70-38 on Wednesday, Nov. 29. Saturday the team returned home and defeated Downey 36-27.

Fishing Report

Last week I had the opportunity to get together with a few childhood friends for a day of sturgeon fishing. One of my friends, who is an avid fisherman, told me that when he went to purchase his sturgeon tag, he had to first purchase a fishing license. Thinking it was a mistake, he pulled his license out of his wallet and it read 2016. He couldn't believe that he was fishing all year long without a license. Legan Leads Varsity Mustang Boys To Hoops Win

The 2017-2018 Oakdale High School varsity boys basketball season is now three preseason games deep. On Monday, Nov. 27 the boys defeated Bret Harte 55-44. Oakdale followed up with a 66-50 home win over Pacheco on Thursday night. Saturday the boys fell to visiting Escalon, 65-41. The early preseason success is a positive start to the season, considering the team's rough recent history.

Mixed Results On Pitch For OHS Soccer Squads

It was an action packed week for the Oakdale varsity boys soccer team. Oakdale opened the preseason with a 2-0 home loss against Central Valley on Wednesday, Nov. 29. Friday night the boys went to Turlock to play in the Pitman Tournament. Oakdale took on Waterford and defeated the Wildcats 1-0. Scoring the lone goal of the game was Juan Mata in the first half, thanks to an assist by CJ Glow. Earning the win was goalkeeper Philip Knieriere who made four saves in the game. Mustangs, Manteca Vie For Section Championship

The time has arrived. The 2017 CIF Sac-Joaquin Division III Section Championship game kicks off Friday night, Dec. 1 at Lincoln High School in Stockton. The top seeded – and defending Section and State champion – Oakdale Mustangs will take on the second seeded Manteca Buffaloes. Kickoff for the contest is scheduled at 7 p.m.

Jacobson Sets Record In Playoff Win Over Patterson

Friday night, Nov. 24 The Corral was stuffed like the Thanksgiving turkey the day before. With nearly 4,000 people in attendance, the Oakdale Mustangs broke away from the visiting Patterson Tigers 63-27 to advance to the CIF Sac-Joaquin Division III Section Championship game.

Fishing Report

Fishing on an empty stomach is something I've never experienced while fishing on the day after Thanksgiving. I always seem to have time to make turkey sandwiches the night before, or the morning of my trip. I find it interesting because most of the time I forget to pack a lunch. Mustangs Conquer Vikings In Second Round Playoff Tilt
