Tennis Team Splits Contests

Two matches, one win for the Oakdale girls tennis team this past week. The girls were on the road for a pair of Valley Oak League matches when they took on Kimball and East Union. Oakdale fell to Kimball 5-4 but answered back two days later when they defeated East Union 6-3.

Mustangs Run Strong At Second Valley Oak League Meet

The Mustangs and Lady Mustangs cross country runners put in one of their best team efforts this past week at the Valley Oak League (VOL) Meet #2. The big league competition took place Wednesday, Oct. 4 at Legion Park in Modesto.

Stampede Scoreboard

Another stellar week for all three levels of the Oakdale Stampede youth football program. This past weekend saw the teams travel to Riverbank to face the 49ers. In varsity action Oakdale dominated 61-6 to improve to 5-1 overall. The win over the 49ers was a non-conference win and Oakdale is currently in third place in the AFC. The varsity Stampede will take on the Cougars at Golden Valley High School in AFC action this Saturday. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. The Cougars are in fourth place in the AFC with a record of 3-1, 1-2.

Huge First Quarter Lifts Varsity Squad To Victory

The scoring in Friday night's varsity football road game against Weston Ranch was fast and furious. Oakdale jumped on the Cougars within 20 seconds and never let up in the 59-18 road win. Cameron Cherry busted his way through the Cougars front line, and then their secondary for a 46-yard rushing score with 11:43 remaining in the first quarter to go up 7-0. Boat Ramp Open At Dos Reis

The boat ramp at Dos Reis Regional Park in Lathrop is now open for usage. Boat launching at the Lathrop park was suspended in January due to flooding and subsequent infrastructure issues. Camping at the regional park continues to remain open.

Water Polo Teams Suffer Tough Losses

The Oakdale water polo teams both took a difficult loss this past week. Both boys and girls were on the road and had long bus rides back from the competition. The boys fell to Downey 10-8 on Tuesday, Sept. 26. In the loss Caden Nord scored four goals for Oakdale and had an impact on the defensive side as well as he gathered three steals. Lady Golfers Improve To 9-0

The young talented Oakdale girls golf team is closing in on winning the Valley Oak League championship. Oakdale earned two Valley Oak League victories this past week to improve to 9-0 on the season. On Tuesday, Sept. 26 the girls defeated East Union (7-2) for the second time this season, 227-251 at Manteca Park in nine-hole action. Both Madi Blanc and Allie Denning shot a game low 43 for Oakdale. Makayla Christiansen shot 46, which tied her with Natalie Cowan of East Union who shot a team low of 46. On Thursday, Sept. 28 the Oakdale girls tennis team snapped its three game skid with an 8-1 home win over Weston Ranch. Prior to that victory the girls had dropped three straight Valley Oak League matches, including a 9-0 road loss on Tuesday, Sept. 26 to Manteca.

Varsity Mustangs Lasso Football Road Win Over Lancers

It was as if the varsity Oakdale Mustangs never missed a beat this offseason. The defending state champions opened up the regular season campaign with a convincing 42-6 road win over East Union on Friday night. Oakdale scored 35 unanswered points in the first half to help pave the way to a 1-0 start in the Valley Oak League.
