As the end of the fall sports season comes into view, many of the Lady Mustangs teams are making playoff pushes. The girls golf, tennis and volleyball squads all made the most of their opportunities this week and earned Valley Oak League wins.
For the second straight game, the varsity Oakdale Mustangs shut out the opposition, this week's victim: the Lathrop Spartans. Oakdale (5-1, 3-0) spoiled the Spartans (1-5, 0-3) Homecoming with a 42-0 thumping on Friday night, Oct. 7.
League play has begun for the boys and girls water polo clubs, and both welcomed Ripon to town this past week. On Tuesday, Oct. 4 Oakdale hosted the Indians at the Oakdale Aquatic Center. The varsity girls hit the pool first and came out on top 11-4, while the boys battled to a tough 16-10 loss.
It is Homecoming Week at Oakdale High School, and along with all the school spirit, the parade, the painting of windows around town, action will also take place on the football field twice this week. Oakdale's varsity football team will host East Union on Friday night, but 48 hours prior the junior and senior female students will face off in the annual OHS Powder Puff Football Game.
The Oakdale Lady Mustangs have continued to make strides during the fall as the tennis, golf and volleyball clubs all earned wins this past week. Following is a recap of the action in Valley Oak League play.

For those who don't know what Photoshop is, it's one of several programs that can be used to alter, enhance, or edit a photo. With a few swipes, or clicks of a button, a person can ...
Winding their way through a three-game stretch on the road, the Oakdale Stampede squads traveled to Pacheco High School to clash with the Wildcats. In week six action, the second of a three game road trip was a successful one for two of the three Stampede clubs.
The "Mini Mustangs" had the chance to be front and center at Friday night's Oakdale Mustangs JV and varsity football games, but rest assured, there was nothing 'mini' about the varsity Mustangs performance Friday night. Oakdale scored 40 first-half points to make short work of the visiting Kimball Jaguars in the 40-14 varsity football victory.
The Mustangs returned to Daniel Teicheira Memorial Stadium for the first time in two seasons on Friday night, Sept. 23. Last time they faced off against the Sierra Timberwolves on the road, Oakdale fell 31-20. Fast forward to 2016 and another instant classic was born. This time it was Oakdale who came out on top with a 28-25 road win.
