NHRA Thunders Into The Desert For Nationals

The NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series thundered into Las Vegas Motor Speedway for the 18th annual Denso Spark Plugs NHRA Nationals over the weekend. The windy, rainy and dusty weather conditions created some ever changing track conditions. This really tested the skills of the crew chiefs and led to some interesting upsets.

Varsity Softball Girls Fall At Home To Manteca

For the first time in nine years, the Oakdale (9-3, 2-1) varsity softball girls lost to Manteca (12-4, 4-1). The last time Oakdale lost to the visiting Buffaloes was March 18, 2008 when the Lady Mustangs fell in a 3-2 decision to the Manteca team. That same year, Oakdale lost on the road to Manteca 6-5 on April 18. Since then Oakdale was 16-0 against Manteca, until Wednesday, March 29 at home. Oakdale Youth Wrestlers Grapple For State Honors

Nearly two dozen Oakdale youth wrestlers placed at the 2017 State of California Wrestling Alliance for the Youth (SCWAY) State Meet in Clovis. The three day tournament took place at Buchanan High School and featured young wrestlers from kindergarten to eighth graders.

Oakdale Corrals Manteca In Track And Field Meet

One week after Oakdale's dominant run came to a close, the Lady Mustangs bounced back in a big way with wins over Manteca. After having their 88 straight league meet victories snapped, the varsity girls crushed Manteca 121-14. TJ Verdegaal won the 300 hurdles and placed second in the 100 hurdles behind teammate Cassie England. Swimmers Split Dual Meet

Oakdale swimmers traveled to Ripon to take on the Indians and East Union on Thursday, March 30. On the windy day, Oakdale's girls lost to Ripon 68-54 despite having multiple girls set personal best times. The Oakdale girls did defeat East Union 134-65.

Mustang Golfers Split Matches

The Oakdale High School boys golf team suffered its first Valley Oak League loss on Wednesday, March 29 at the hands of Central Catholic. Oakdale fell to the Raiders 205-232. Zachary Tamburrino shot a team low 41 for Oakdale, while normal team leaders David Myrtakis shot 46 and Calvin Reed was right behind him at 47. Oakdale Softball Girls Blank Kimball In VOL

The 2017 Valley Oak League softball season got underway for Oakdale's Lady Mustangs this past week, though it was delayed by 24 hours. Originally scheduled for Wednesday, March 22, Oakdale's home game against Kimball was postponed that day due to rainy weather. When the girls took the field on Thursday, Oakdale jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first and behind lights out pitching by Grace Green, Oakdale held on for a 2-0 home win. Green pitched seven strong innings, giving up just two hits and no walks.

Mustang Varsity Baseball Sweeps VOL Rival Manteca

The Oakdale Mustangs baseball team is off to a hot start this season. Oakdale finished the preseason with a 7-1 record and opened league play with a pair of wins against Manteca.
