Water Polo Boys Move To Semifinals

The Oakdale High School boys' water polo season stayed afloat with an 11-3 first round victory. On Friday, Nov. 3 the fourth ranked Mustangs defeated fifth ranked Dixon in the opening round of the 2017 CIF Sac-Joaquin playoffs. The boys won the contest behind goalkeeper Logan Cary's brilliant defensive efforts.

Varsity Mustangs Rally For Win Over Raiders

Two teams: one goal, one championship. Friday night Nov. 3 the Oakdale Mustangs went into Central Catholic to do battle for Valley Oak League supremacy. When the dust settled it was the Mustangs coming out on top and the team rode the bus home as the 2017 Valley Oak League champions after winning 27-21.

Football Mustangs Steamroll Spartans In Shutout At Corral

62-0. Yes, 62-0; the Oakdale varsity football Mustangs dominated the visiting Lathrop Spartans on Friday night. Oakdale scored 35 points in the first quarter and used a running clock in the second half to remain unbeaten in Valley Oak League action. The host team used a strong rushing attack to open up their early lead, scoring on each of their first six possessions of the game.

Rough End To Regular Season For Volleyball

Senior Night 2017 was full of energy and high hopes on the volleyball court. The Lady Mustangs varsity team entered Monday night, Oct. 23 tied with Manteca for first place in the standings with two games left to play. By the end of the week the girls finished the season in second place, having lost both of those contests.

The 2017 regular water polo season came to a close this past week. On Tuesday, Oct. 24 both the boys and girls Oakdale water polo teams hosted their Senior Night festivities. The night came with mixed results as the boys rallied for a 9-8 victory and the girls fell to visiting Sonora 8-2.

Stampede Gears Up For Cencal Playoffs

The regular season of the Cencal Youth Football League has come to a close. For the Oakdale varsity Stampede it ended on a high note with a 51-14 home win over the Modesto Broncos. With the win the Stampede finished the regular season with a record of 9-1 overall, 5-1 in league, to place second in the AFC standings. The team will have the second seed in the playoffs and will host the Turlock Bulldogs. Oakdale defeated them 32-6 earlier this season. The Valley Oak League Cross Country Championship meet was held Wednesday, Oct. 25 at Eagal Lakes in Tracy. For the freshman/sophomore boys and junior varsity girls it was a championship performance. The freshman/sophomore girls placed second, the junior varsity boys and varsity girls each placed third and the varsity boys placed fourth overall.
