Fishing Report

For many of our local children, school is now out for the summer. I wonder how many of those students are going to get out and enjoy the outdoors during their time off? I recently received a press release from Marko Mlikotin from The California Sports Fishing League ( that highlighted some pretty disturbing statistics. The one that jumped out the most to me was that "sales of the state's annual fishing licenses have declined over 55 percent since 1980, during which time California's population increased over 60 percent. When compared to other states, California's annual ...

Oakdale's Caden Nord could not cap off his magical 2017 season with a state finals appearance in Clovis on May 19 and 20. The junior qualified for state consideration one week prior at the CIF SAC-Joaquin Section Finals in the 50 and 100 yard freestyle but failed to make it to the final cut of the State Meet at Clovis West High School. This season, though, Nord set the bar for Oakdale men's swimmers as he broke the school record in the 100 yard freestyle and also broke his own 2016 school record in the 50 yard freestyle.

Fishing Report

The weather finally seems like it's going to be more like the month of May that I'm used to. I know better to get too excited though, since everyone else is most likely going to be just as excited as I am to be able to get out on the water. My main concern this time of year going forward while out on the water is other operators. There are still some boaters that believe they cannot be stopped for drinking and driving while boating. The Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) may in fact revoke or suspend your ...
