Stampede Sign-Ups Due

Sign-ups for new players and cheerleaders interested in joining the Oakdale Stampede Youth Football and Cheer program will be held Thursday, March 10 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. in the Oakdale Junior High School cafeteria. First-come, first-serve, reserve your spot to become part of something special.

Tennis Boys Serve Up Wins

The Oakdale boy's tennis team is off to a great start. Oakdale went 2-0 this week in Valley Oak League action. Oakdale knocked off Lathrop on the road 9-0; and followed up with a convincing 7-2 home win over Sierra on Tuesday, March 1.

JV, Varsity Soccer Girls Tie It Up With Downey

Oakdale Lady Mustang soccer clubs hosted Downey on Tuesday evening, March 1. In their lone match of the week, Oakdale hosted Downey in a non-conference contest. The varsity girls (3-1-1) tied 2-2 with the visitors.

Oakdale Golfers Off To Hot Start

Mustang golfers are off to a 3-0 start, the boys enjoying a busy beginning to the 2016 season. The varsity linksters defeated Ceres 194-220 in non-league play, and opened their Valley Oak League season with a convincing 211-285 victory over Lathrop.

Edsall Named World’s Greatest Horseman

Oakdale resident Clayton Edsall recently participated in the National Reined Cow Horse Association (NRCHA) Championship in Texas and earned the title of World's Greatest Horseman. On Feb. 20, Edsall and his gelding horse Skeets Oak Peppy went into John Justin Arena in Fort Worth, Texas and took first place in the finals of the World's Greatest Horseman Championship.

Oakdale Finishes Wrestling Season At State

Freshman grappler Ricky Torres capped off his successful rookie season with an eighth place finish at the 2016 CIF State Wrestling Meet. Torres and four other Mustangs battled with the best of what California high school wrestling had to offer in Bakersfield. The two day wrestle fest began at Rabobank Arena on Friday, March 4 and continued through Saturday, March 5.

Stampede Sign-Ups

This fall a stampede is coming to Oakdale. Oakdale's youth football and cheer program is back and sign-ups begin on Thursday, March 3 for returning players and cheerleaders. Thursday, March 10 new player and cheerleader registration will take place for the Oakdale Stampede, along with returning players and cheerleaders. Each registration period will take place at Oakdale Junior High School from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Pritchett, Wilkerson And Line Claim Wins At Wild Horse Pass

The second event of the NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series came into the Wild Horse Pass Motorsports Park for the 32nd annual Carquest Auto Parts NHRA Nationals in Arizona over the weekend. Top Fuel featured six cars running under 3.80 seconds, with Doug Kalitta and his MAC Tools team nailing down the top qualifying spot with a strong 3.741 at 320.74 mph. Soccer Girls Play Strong In Turlock Tournament

Oakdale's varsity soccer girls went to Pitman High School in Turlock to play in a two day soccer fest, kicking off preseason action. The Lady Mustangs went 3-1 in the tournament with a pair of shutout wins. Oakdale blanked Ceres 2-0 behind two second half goals. Sophomores Viviana Albor (midfielder and forward) and Talia Millard (midfielder) scored Oakdale's goals with assists by seniors Megan Burke (midfielder) and Bailey Antonio (midfielder). Defending the net were seniors Melissa Ibarra and Kaylee DeRuyter.

Fishing Tournament Saturday

San Joaquin County Parks and Recreation and the Delta Fly Fishers will present the 13th Annual Bob McMillen Memorial Fishing Tournament on Saturday, March 5 at Oak Grove Regional Park in Stockton. Open to all ages.

Oakdale Golf Boys Swing Into Action

The Mustang boys golf team teed off the preseason with match play against their former league rival, Sonora. The two teams met at Mountain Spring Golf Course to play nine holes. Oakdale came out on top with a 204-228 victory. Sophomore David Myrtakis sat on top of the leaderboard with an impressive 37. Not far behind Myrtakis were his teammates Calvin Reed (40); Greg Wikoff (41) and Zackary Tamburrino (41). Tristan Jaramillo carded a 45 and Cole Liekhus finished the day at 51.

Five Mustang Wrestlers Heading To State

For a handful of Oakdale varsity Mustang wrestlers, the dream of becoming a CIF State Meet qualifier became a reality this weekend. Oakdale sent eight wrestlers to the Stockton Arena for the 2016 Sac-Joaquin Section Masters Championship for two days of high school wrestling action, and out of the hundreds of the section's most talented, by the end of the day on Saturday, Feb. 27 the elite from the section punched their tickets to next weekend's State Championship in Bakersfield.

Multiple Mustang Teams On The Rise

Over the last three months, Mustang sports fans have made their way into the school's main gym to watch the winter sports of wrestling and basketball. Now that the sun is out, and the skies are clearing up, Oakdale fans will soon be able to make their way back outside to enjoy several spring sports, as student athletes look to close out the school year with a final sports season.
