Mustangs Run Wild At VOL Cross Country Meet

The Valley Oak League Cross Country Championship meet was held Wednesday, Oct. 25 at Eagal Lakes in Tracy. For the freshman/sophomore boys and junior varsity girls it was a championship performance. The freshman/sophomore girls placed second, the junior varsity boys and varsity girls each placed third and the varsity boys placed fourth overall.

Girls Tennis Battles To 7-7 VOL Mark

The regular season came to a close for the Oakdale girls tennis team this past week. The girls dropped both of their road contests to end the season with a record of 7-7 in the Valley Oak League. Oakdale fell to Sierra and Manteca to end the season on a three-game losing streak.

ABA Basketball Comes To The Valley

The American Basketball Association (ABA) is filled with a rich history and historic figures. The ABA was founded in 1967 and is still going strong. The red, white and blue basketball league is bouncing its way to the Central Valley as the Stanislaus Superkats get ready to tip off their inaugural season.

Lady Mustang Golfers Capture VOL Crown

Completing another successful season, the Oakdale Lady Mustangs girls golf team has captured its second consecutive Valley Oak League (VOL) title. The girls recently wrapped up the league campaign, going 14-0. The team's winning streak has reached 33 dating back to 2015. The team played host to the VOL Championship Tournament on Monday, Oct. 16 where they hosted all eight teams in the league at Oakdale Golf and Country Club. Much like they have over the last two-plus seasons, the girls showed their dominance and won the tournament by 66 strokes over second place East Union.

NHRA Heritage Season Champions Crowned

Jim Murphy from Santa Rosa, a veteran drag racer with decades in the field, closed out the season in the AA/FD category at the 26th annual NHRA Heritage Series California Hot Rod Reunion on a high note. The reunion, held at the famed AAA of Southern California strip in Famoso, is the final event of the NHRA Heritage Racing season. Mustang Football Earns Complete Sweep Of Kimball

The Oakdale Mustangs varsity football team played spoiler to the Kimball Jaguars' Senior Night this past Friday, Oct. 20. Oakdale (7-1, 5-0) went into Don Nicholson Stadium in Tracy and blasted the Jaguars (1-7, 1-4) by a final score of 42-0.

Girls Lose First VOL Game In Eight Years

The boys water polo team earned a pair of Valley Oak League victories this past week. On Tuesday, Oct. 17 the boys hosted Bret Harte and earned a 16-5 home win over the Bullfrogs. Oakdale scored seven quick goals to go up 7-0 after the first quarter. Aron Cameron and Caden Nord scored five goals each. David Hill and Ethan Perry scored two goals each and Brendan McAnally and Dakota McNeil each tossed in one goal.

Dominant Performance By Mustangs During Homecoming Week

Homecoming 2017 saw plenty of decorations, signs, fans in the stands and even the annual crowning of a Queen and Princess at halftime of the varsity football game on Friday night. However, on the field, it was business as usual for the varsity Oakdale Mustangs. The team had a 48-0 lead at halftime over Sierra and won the game 48-7 in the Valley Oak League showdown.

Football Preview

After the first month of Valley Oak League action, the Oakdale Mustangs are tied for first place with Central Catholic at 4-0. This Friday night, Oakdale travels to Kimball High School to face the Jaguars. Oakdale is coming off a 48-7 home win over Sierra. The Mustangs have shown zero signs of a "championship hangover," performing at a consistently high level. In the four VOL games this season, Oakdale has only allowed 46 points, while scoring 185.

The Oakdale Stampede traveled to Turlock High School to face the Bulldogs in Cencal Youth Football action on Saturday. For the varsity it was a successful road trip, and for the junior varsity and peewee teams it was a long trip back to the Cowboy Capital of the World.
