Long Appointed New Freshman Football Coach

For the last four years, Rod Long has been on staff at Oakdale High School as a special education teacher. This year, Long will be doing some more teaching after hours on campus, not in a classroom, but on the football field as the new head coach for the Oakdale freshman football team.

Zoom Fun At The Zoo

Micke Grove Zoological Society Zoo Zoom is a health-driven, family-friendly event that includes a children's fun run, 5K race, games, crafts, award ceremony and a pancake breakfast. Rain Delays Completion Of NHRA Northwest Nationals

Overcast skies and cool weather contributed to several track records in Top Fuel and resetting of the elapse time record twice in Funny Car during weekend competition in Washington State. Unfortunately, the weather also brought an early end to the racing, as rain stopped the action at the end of the semifinal rounds.

Gators Honored In End Of Season Ceremony

Oakdale's youth swim club, the Oakdale Gators recently ended their summer season and on Thursday, July 28 the club held its end of the year awards ceremony. Young swimmers, parents, coaches and fans gathered at Oakdale High School's Aquatic Center that evening to honor all of the swimmers who hit the pool during the summer.

Seventh Place Finish For Dahm At NPC Nationals

Oakdale's J.R. Dahm competed in the 2016 National Physique Committee (NPC) Junior Master Nationals in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania on July 20. Dahm, who advanced to the NPC Junior Master Nationals after taking first in the NPC Junior Master Regionals recently, took seventh in the nation, falling just short of qualifying for his pro card.

The Oakdale High School Sports Boosters Club is seeking new membership for the 2016-2017 school year. Four membership levels are available for purchase and each have their own perks during the year. Ranging from Pony ($25) to Corporate ($500), being a member of one of the elite booster clubs in the area will get you an up close experience at all Mustang sports this year.

2016 NHRA Toyota/Sonoma Nationals Brings Back Memories

It was 10 years ago when a young, local driver from Oakdale claimed the Funny Car title at the Toyota/Sonoma Nationals event. His name was Eric Medlen and he drove a team car for John Force Racing. That same weekend, a friend of his won the event title in Top Fuel. That friend was J.R. Todd. A year later (2007), Medlen lost his life in a testing accident, prior to this event. Fishing Report

Gone are the days when I used to fish through the summer heat. Call it what you want, "I call it being smart." Rarely have my fishing trips gone past noon this summer. Yesterday for example, I was on the water before 6:30 a.m. and off the water at noon. I was able to catch fish, enjoy the morning, avoid the traffic, and didn't come home feeling completely drained of energy. Inaugural Stampede Meet And Greet A Success

With the young Stampede football and cheerleading season getting ready to start soon, the youth organization hosted its inaugural Stampede Meet and Greet over the weekend. Players, coaches, cheerleaders, alum, families and board members gathered at Kerr Park in Oakdale for the event on Saturday and had a large turnout.
