An undefeated romp through the Valley Oak League has Oakdale High's varsity baseball team in the driver's seat for the Sac-Joaquin Section Division IV playoffs, but as of Monday, Oakdale was still waiting for someone else to get on the bus.
Since the prep golf season has an early postseason, Oakdale High's boys golf team had the first chance of any Spring program on campus to secure a Sac-Joaquin Section title. They made the most of this opportunity on May 8 at the Division IV SJS Championships at the Diablo Grande Golf and Country Club in Patterson.
Oakdale High senior golfer Ryan Jones carded a 70-stroke performance at The Reserve at Spanos Park in Stockton on Monday at the Sac-Joaquin Section Masters Championships. The effort allowed him to finish as the No. 2 individual to qualify for the NorCal Championships on May 21.
