Cadwell Tapped Youth Director For International Finals Rodeo

The International Finals Youth Rodeo selected six competitors to serve as youth directors for the 2018 event. The chosen individuals were announced during the 2017 IFYR, which kicked off July 9 and concluded the evening of July 14 at the Heart of Oklahoma Exposition Center, 1700 W. Independence, in Shawnee, Oklahoma. The IFYR is the richest youth rodeo in the world, with more than $250,000 in prize money, championship saddles and buckles for contestants to pursue.

Gators Welcome Teams To Oakdale Aquatic Center

In their first home meet of the summer, the Oakdale Gators youth swimmers hit the pool for a multi-team recreational meet. On Saturday, July 8 Turlock, Modesto, Lodi and Tracy visited the Oakdale High School Aquatic Center for the day of swimming. There were several events throughout the day but no official points were kept. Here is a look at the Oakdale swimmers who placed in the top five for their events, with name spellings and information provided by coaches.

Mutton Busting Thrills

Oakdale is the Cowboy Capital of the World, and the future of the rodeo circuit begins at a young age. For those who dream of being in the rodeo arena, they often start off competing in Mutton Busting. Mutton Busting is for three- to seven-year-olds who ride sheep and try to hang on for six seconds. This event is similar to bull riding or saddle bronc as the object is to hang on until the whistle sounds.

For the past five years, we've camped in Half Moon Bay. I've never been able to get in any fishing since most of my efforts were spent getting everything packed and making sure that we had an available campsite. If you've ever tried camping on the beach, open spots are very difficult to find. This time around was different though. MJC Athletics Program Earns Top 15 Ranking In State Poll

The Modesto Junior College athletics program tied for 15th (seventh in Northern California) from among 109 California community colleges in the annual National Alliance of Two-Year College Athletic Administrators (NATYCAA) Cup standings. MJC's standings were benefited by particularly successful performances by MJC's Football, Wrestling, Men's and Women's Golf, Men's and Women's Tennis, and Men's Track and Field teams.
