Heartbreaking Loss For Frosh Boys In Tournament

If games were 31 minutes and 58 seconds long instead of 32 minutes; the Oakdale freshman boys basketball team would have defeated the Central Catholic Raiders on Thursday afternoon. On the final day of the 22nd Grace Davis Holiday Tournament, Oakdale and Central Catholic squared off where the winner would finish the tournament in third place. This was the second consecutive year that Oakdale would be in the third place game. However, unlike last season, Oakdale did not finish third as they fell 48-47 to the Raiders.

Fishing Report

Recently, while checking out of a hotel we were staying in, I spotted a boy that was no older than 12, sitting there with a Bass Pro Shops hat on. To some, that may not matter much. To me, it mattered a lot. I spent an entire day in Disneyland the day before and saw mostly Disneyland hats being worn. I immediately thought to myself, of all places to see a Bass Pro Shops hat! This kid must have the "fishing bug," as the old timers used to say. I couldn't help to not be reminded of myself when ...

Did You Know?

Millions of people resolve to get healthier by dieting and exercising more frequently at the start of each new year. According to data from the International Health, Racquet & Sportsclub Association, 12 percent of new gym memberships are opened in January. The second week of January is one of the busiest times of year in the fitness industry. But many people who decide to exercise more at the dawn of a new year quickly lose that resolve. New Year's resolutions to diet may wane as well. In 2013, a UK food company found that of those who diet regularly, two ...

Fishing Report

I'm sure I'm not the only one who wasn't out shopping early for Christmas yet. I chose to blame it on Christmas being on a Monday combined with my Christmas company arriving on Saturday. Either way, I found a way to get my shopping done. Personally, I love receiving gift cards to my favorite places to shop. Lately, I've been really interested in the Yeti Load Out Bucket. It's fairly priced and seems to have a lot of uses for someone that camps and fishes a lot. Speaking of Yeti, one of my Christmas gift ...

Family-Friendly Winter Activities

Many people may run indoors when the temperatures outside approach or dip below freezing. But the truly adventurous see no reason why a little cold weather should keep them cooped up indoors for months at a time. While those living in the Central Valley typically have to drive a bit to reach the snow, family fun can make the trip worthwhile.
