Mustangs Gallop Past Sonora In Season Opening Victory

Friday night football is back at The Corral as the Mustangs hosted longtime rivals, the Sonora Wildcats in the 2014 season opener. Even though Sonora is no longer in the Valley Oak League, the rivalry between the two schools went on for 91 years in league play and still holds up as a big rivalry in California.

Saturday Scrimmage Paves Way For Season Opener

The long awaited Oakdale High School football 2014 season is under way. After spring and summer workouts, two-a-days once practices could officially begin earlier this month, and team meetings, the Mustangs hosted a home scrimmage against the Tracy Bulldogs on Saturday, Aug. 23.

Norm Antinetti Tapped For SJS Hall Of Fame

Thirty-two local sports legends – including an Oakdale icon – will be inducted into the 2014 Sac-Joaquin Section Hall of Fame later this month. Representing Oakdale High School is decorated basketball coach and athletic director Norm Antinetti.

Hackbarth, Sanders Named To All State Team

Oakdale High School varsity softball teammates Lauren Sanders and Kindra Hackbarth were named to the Calhisports.com All-State Medium/Small School Softball Team for 2014. Sanders, who graduated from OHS in May and will continue to play softball for San Diego State, was named to the first team for her ability behind the dish as she was named to the top five catchers list. Hackbarth was named to the Second Team for both her glove and cannon of an arm in the outfield. Hackbarth will be entering her junior year, was one of only two sophomores to make the list ...

Boys of Summer

It's never too early for spring training for Oakdale High School baseball. With well over 40 signups of incoming freshman taking part in a summer clinic to help prepare themselves for tryouts next spring. Eight coaches, including freshman baseball Coach Chris Jackson, junior varsity Coach Scot Gehl and Varsity Coach Nate Gregory on hand to help them along the way.

Peterson, Chappell Champions - OHS Athletes Shine At CIF Masters

A pair of Master's Meet champions from Oakdale was crowned at Elk Grove High School, as Kyle Peterson and Hannah Chappell brought home the honors from the 2014 CIF Sac-Joaquin Track and Field Masters Meet. Competition was held on May 29 and May 30.

OHS Baseball Honors Presented

2014 was a year of mixed emotions for the Oakdale High School baseball teams. The year featured first year varsity coach Nathan Gregory, who managed the team to the CIF Sections playoffs, but fell in the first round. The varsity team also has seen eight of its seniors graduate, going to college this fall and leaving behind some holes to fill.

Section Success - Record Setting Day For Mustang Track, Field

California State University of Stanislaus in Turlock was the host of the CIF Sac-Joaquin Section Track and Field Division IV and V trials and finals. The meet was staged over two days beginning Tuesday, May 20 with trials in multiple events and wrapping up with finals on Thursday, May 22.

Softball Program Honors Presented For Championship Campaign

In a special gathering on Monday, May 12 the softball community honored both the Oakdale High School Junior Varsity and Varsity teams for their accomplishments this season. The event took place at the Bianchi Center in Oakdale. With four awards given our for each program, Offensive Player of the Year, Defensive Player of the Year and Most Improved player of the Year that were voted by the team, the coaches also gave out their Coaches Award as well.

Section Champions - Oakdale Varsity Softball Claims D4 Crown

The varsity Lady Mustangs softball team ran the gauntlet known as the CIF Sac-Joaquin Section Championships and were crowned the 2013-2014 Division 4 Champions on Saturday, May 17 at Arnaiz Softball Complex in Stockton. Oakdale went 4-0 over a three-day span, knocking off Los Banos 17-0, Ceres 11-0, Sierra 5-4 and East Union 3-0 during their postseason quest for the title.

Mustangs Muster 13-1 Senior Day Victory

In the final home game of the season, family, friends, alumni and enthusiastic fans gathered at Oakdale High School on May 7; to honor the eight seniors on the varsity baseball team for Senior Day 2014, as well as watch the team clash with Lathrop High School in Valley Oak League play.

Sweet Success - Varsity Softball Squad Enjoys Senior Night

Monday night, May 5 had all the pregame storyline build up for an exciting evening of softball for Oakdale's varsity girls team. Oakdale welcomed Sonora High School to town for the final time in its historic rivalry. Mix that with Senior Night festivities and a possible share of the Valley Oak League title, and the Oakdale fans were ready for some softball action.

Varsity Softball Falls To EU, Kimball

It was a tough week for the Oakdale High School varsity softball team, as the Lady Mustangs dropped a pair of league matchups. On Wednesday, April 30 the team suffered a 3-0 road loss to East Union, and then fell short in another road game, this time to the Jaguars of Kimball on Friday, May 2 by a 5-1 verdict.

Lady Mustang Soccer Shines On Senior Night

Some say, "all good things must come to an end" and on Tuesday, April 29 two things did come to an end; a 90-plus years school rivalry between Oakdale and Sonora high school in Valley Oak League play, as Sonora will be relocating into the Mother Lode League at the beginning of the new school year, and for five OHS seniors, it was the final soccer game of their high school soccer careers.
