Fishing Report

I'm sure we all have heard the saying "Change is a good thing." Well, recently I got away from the Delta and spent a couple of days fishing New Hogan Lake. The weather was perfect, and the fish were biting. New Hogan Lake is run by the US Army Corps of Engineers and is one of the cleanest lakes that I've been to in a long time. Trio Of Mustang Runners Advance To Section Final

Three Mustang cross country runners have qualified for the CIF Sac-Joaquin Section Finals at Folsom High School on Friday, Nov. 10. Senior James Forkner, sophomore Kayden Legan and freshman Tanner Cusano all advanced to the finals following their impressive runs on Saturday, Nov. 4 at the CIF Sub-Sections in Frogtown.

Monday afternoon, Oct. 30 the Oakdale High School girls golf team competed in the 2017 CIF Sac-Joaquin Section Masters Tournament. The prestigious event was hosted at The Reserve at Spanos Park in Stockton.

Lady Mustangs Eliminated From Water Polo Playoffs

It has been a roller coaster week for the varsity girl's water polo team. The team entered the 2017 Sac-Joaquin Section Championships as the eighth seed in Division I. On Halloween night the girls hosted the ninth seeded Jaguars of Gregori in the opening round where Oakdale won 11-5. Coming off the high of the first round victory the girls took on top seeded Davis on Thursday night. Davis played like the top seed and defeated Oakdale 18-2.

Stampede Scoreboard

Saturday, Nov. 4 the Oakdale Stampede hosted the 2017 CenCal Youth Football playoffs. The second seed varsity Stampede eliminated the three seed, Turlock Bulldogs, with a 40-0 victory. The second seeded Stampede will take on the top seed Ceres Seahawks on Saturday, Nov. 11. Ceres is coming off a 40-0 victory of their own as they blanked the Thunder. The AFC Divisional Championship will take place at Ceres High School. Earlier in the year, Ceres defeated Oakdale 24-14 for Oakdale's lone loss of the season. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m.

Water Polo Boys Move To Semifinals

The Oakdale High School boys' water polo season stayed afloat with an 11-3 first round victory. On Friday, Nov. 3 the fourth ranked Mustangs defeated fifth ranked Dixon in the opening round of the 2017 CIF Sac-Joaquin playoffs. The boys won the contest behind goalkeeper Logan Cary's brilliant defensive efforts.

Varsity Mustangs Rally For Win Over Raiders

Two teams: one goal, one championship. Friday night Nov. 3 the Oakdale Mustangs went into Central Catholic to do battle for Valley Oak League supremacy. When the dust settled it was the Mustangs coming out on top and the team rode the bus home as the 2017 Valley Oak League champions after winning 27-21.

Football Mustangs Steamroll Spartans In Shutout At Corral

62-0. Yes, 62-0; the Oakdale varsity football Mustangs dominated the visiting Lathrop Spartans on Friday night. Oakdale scored 35 points in the first quarter and used a running clock in the second half to remain unbeaten in Valley Oak League action. The host team used a strong rushing attack to open up their early lead, scoring on each of their first six possessions of the game.

Rough End To Regular Season For Volleyball

Senior Night 2017 was full of energy and high hopes on the volleyball court. The Lady Mustangs varsity team entered Monday night, Oct. 23 tied with Manteca for first place in the standings with two games left to play. By the end of the week the girls finished the season in second place, having lost both of those contests.
