The 33rd annual NHRA Arizona Nationals, held at Wild Horse Pass Motorsports Park, was nearly a mirror image of the season opener in Pomona, California in mid-February. The 2016-2017 Oakdale Lady Mustangs basketball season has come to a close and members of the team were recently recognized for their accomplishments. On Tuesday night, Feb. 21 parents and fans alike gathered inside the Oakdale High School main gym for the end of the year banquet and awards ceremony in honor of all three Lady Mustangs basketball clubs.
For six Oakdale Mustangs, the journey continues. A year's work of weight lifting, making weight, and endless practices in the misty Oakdale wrestling room paid off for half a dozen grapplers. Ricky Torres (132), Jake Ryan (145), Gabe Martinez (152), Bronson Harmon (160), Abel Garcia (170), and Colbey Harlan (182) all qualified for the upcoming CIF California State Championship Meet starting Friday, March 3 at Bakersfield.
Oakdale's soccer season has officially came to an end following a 2-1 second round loss to third ranked Lincoln of Lincoln on Thursday night, Feb. 23. Two nights prior to the season ending defeat, the sixth seeded Mustangs defeated 11th seeded Patterson 2-0 in the first round of the CIF Sac-Joaquin Division III Section Championships inside The Corral.
The calendar may say it is still winter, but Oakdale baseball is back in the swing of things. On Friday, Feb. 24 Oakdale hosted Merced and won in convincing fashion, 9-0, in their first non-league game of the 2017 season.
Like a lot of anglers, I've been restricted to staying home and waiting for the rain to subside. Obviously, the weather has something to do with it, but I'm going to trust my instincts and hold to my original belief. If you fish long enough, you can't help to not notice the subtle changes. From my earliest of days, I can remember trying to analyze why a fish only bit in a certain spot, and only on a certain bait. Since then, I've tried to take those bits of information to ...

For 2017, NASCAR has several changes in the news. First, and foremost, it is no longer the "Sprint Cup" series. It is now the "Monster Energy NASCAR Cup" series. There have also been some changes made to the championship points earned at each event. Most of these point changes have been made to increase the on-track racing excitement for the fans. In the last several years, most events simply came down to fuel mileage strategies and not much on track competitive racing activities. Typically, most of the exciting racing occurred in the last 10 to 30 laps of any event ...

Three weeks ago the Oakdale Mustangs varsity boys playoff chances seemed dim. They were struggling and battling for a top four spot in the Valley Oak League (VOL). Catching fire late, the team then won five of their last six games and finished second in the VOL.
