The tennis season is over for Oakdale High racketeers, but Mustang competitors left the court with a little piece of Valley Oak League dignity on April 24 and 26 during singles and doubles championship league tournaments.
May 8, 10, 11 and 14 will mark the official start to the Sac-Joaquin Section postseason for prep swim, soccer, golf and softball programs. Fantastic depth and strong individual performances from Oakdale High's varsity girls track team carried the program to yet another standout collective performance as the Mustang's edged VOL stalwart, Sierra, on April 26. The win carried Oakdale to an eighth straight conference title and incredible 58th straight conference dual meet win. Trailing Sonora with one event to go, Oakdale High's girls swim team needed to take both first and third in the final event - the 400 yard freestyle relay - to escape the clutches of the host Wildcats with a victory and subsequent league championship.
