Between section champion golfers, track stars and victorious baseball/softball programs from the first days of postseason bracket action, it proved impossible to select any individual as the lone Oakdale Leader Athlete of the Week. So we compromised, in the end selecting track standout Carly Rodgers, golfer Ryan Jones, baseball pitcher Logan Handzlik and softball pitcher Shelby Reali as a collective group of Spring sport standouts.

Baseball, Softball Teams Take Playoff Wins

It didn't take long for Oakdale High baseball and softball teams to make their presence known at the postseason level. The baseball boys silenced River City 5-1 on Thursday in the first round of the Sac-Joaquin Section Division IV playoffs at Tony Zupo field in Lodi. Just a few miles south, Oakdale's softball team blasted past both Central Catholic and Ceres with a pair of stunning 10-0 shutouts at the Arnaiz Softball complex in Stockton.

Lady Mustangs Earn Pair of VOL Wins

Head coach Larry Loger and his varsity softball girls are reminding teams why they're the defending Sac-Joaquin Section champions. The Lady Mustangs improved to 15-7 overall and more importantly 7-1 in league play after an 8-5 road victory over Kimball and an 18-0 shellacking of winless Weston Ranch on Thursday, April 16 at home.

Mustangs Keep Up Hectic Pace For Track, Field

On top of their Valley Oak League meet against Sierra on Thursday, March 26, the best of the best in high school varsity track and field came out to The Corral on Friday, March 27 for the annual County vs. County meet. Eighteen schools from both Stanislaus and Merced counties competed under the hot Oakdale early spring sun.

OHS Baseball Splits Two Wild Games With Manteca

The varsity Oakdale Mustangs opened the 2015 Valley Oak League season playing a home and home stand with the Manteca Buffaloes this past week. On Wednesday, March 18 the boys escaped with a wild 21-15 road win. Down 9-3 after three innings, Oakdale exploded with nine runs in the top half of the fourth and never looked back. Nolen Legan powered the Mustangs with his four hit, five RBI day. The Mustangs outscored the Buffaloes 18-6 in the final four innings of play.
