OBSA Evaluation Day Slated For Saturday

In preparation for the inaugural Oakdale Baseball and Softball Association (OBSA) season, the association will hold its first player evaluation day. The tryout will be held on Saturday, Jan. 30 at T.L. Davis Sports Complex from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. for both youth baseball and softball players. If rain occurs during these hours, the tryouts will be held Saturday, Feb. 6 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Gridiron Hardware Handed Out For 2015 Mustangs

As it has for the last handful of years, Martin Luther King Jr. Day saw the hosting of the Oakdale High School Mustang football awards ceremony. Players and coaches from all three levels, along with a few hundred fans and proud parents, gathered in the school's main gym to honor the effort and success of the past season.

Sports Booster Club Cooks Up Annual Fun

The Oakdale High School Sports Booster Club will be hosting their annual Dinner Dance Auction on Saturday, Feb. 27. The event will be open to the public from 5:30 p.m. to 11:30 p.m. at the F.E.S. Hall on North Lee Avenue in Oakdale. Local band Remedy will be performing throughout the evening. Food is catered by House of Beef, which will be serving some of their signature dishes. Lady Mustangs Earn Split Of League Games

Oakdale's Lady Mustangs varsity basketball girls hit the court for a pair of Valley Oak League games this past week. Oakdale (8-8, 1-3) earned their first league victory with a 56-50 road win over Weston Ranch (2-12, 0-3). Oakdale could not keep the momentum rolling, though, as they fell to Lathrop (8-6, 2-2) 36-19 two days later.

Varsity Lady Mustangs Fall Short In VOL Play

Friday night, Jan. 8 the Lady Mustang varsity basketball girls welcomed Kimball to town. Coming off a 42-28 road loss to Sierra to start their Valley Oak League (VOL) campaign, Oakdale fell short against Kimball (7-8, 1-1) by a 36-32 final to drop to 0-2 in league play and 7-7 overall.

Free Basketball Clinics Set For Young Athletes

For young aspiring basketball players in the area, Oakdale High School is hosting boys and girls basketball skills training and clinics throughout the month of January. Mustangs Welcome New Faces To Basketball Court

Oakdale's varsity boys basketball team added two new faces to the program just as the squad took on league action. Senior Louis Marsella and junior Stanley Thomas made their season debuts for the Mustangs on Friday night. The Mustangs fell to visiting Kimball 55-23. In the loss, Marsella posted a team high five points and five rebounds for the Mustangs, who are now sitting at a 1-12 overall record and 0-2 in Valley Oak League play.

Oakdale Grapplers Battle Through Busy Weekend

With multiple tournaments in the area, Oakdale's wrestling team divided up and some Mustangs went to Escalon High School for the Lloyd C. Engel Invitational on both Friday and Saturday, Jan. 8 and 9. Others from the defending seven-time Sac-Joaquin Section champions went to Clovis for the Doc Buchanan Invitational.
