Mustangs Varsity, JV Fall To Rival Sonora

For the 100th time, Oakdale and Sonora squared off on the varsity football field. Over the last decade it has been Oakdale walking away with the victory on a Friday night, but this was not the case in the team's season opener. Stampede Scoreboard

Oakdale's youth football and cheer program kicked off this past weekend with the Stampede hosting the Central Valley 49ers. The Stampede made short work of the visitors, as all levels of Oakdale finished the weekend with victories. The Pee-Wee team won in overtime 19-12 on a touchdown run by Maddox Dias. The Junior Varsity boys shut out the 49ers 42-0 under quarterback Mickey Merzon, and a big offensive line anchored by center Bradley Joseph. The offensive line helped open holes for runners Yahir Ayala, Chris Thomas, Tate Cassaretto and Dalton Vargas, who all rushed for touchdowns in the win.
