Athlete of the Week - OHS Golf

Since the prep golf season has an early postseason, Oakdale High's boys golf team had the first chance of any Spring program on campus to secure a Sac-Joaquin Section title. They made the most of this opportunity on May 8 at the Division IV SJS Championships at the Diablo Grande Golf and Country Club in Patterson.

Jones Qualifies For NorCals

Oakdale High senior golfer Ryan Jones carded a 70-stroke performance at The Reserve at Spanos Park in Stockton on Monday at the Sac-Joaquin Section Masters Championships. The effort allowed him to finish as the No. 2 individual to qualify for the NorCal Championships on May 21. Baseball Mustangs Still Unbeaten In VOL Play

OHS Girls Claim 8th Consecutive VOL Track Title

Fantastic depth and strong individual performances from Oakdale High's varsity girls track team carried the program to yet another standout collective performance as the Mustang's edged VOL stalwart, Sierra, on April 26. The win carried Oakdale to an eighth straight conference title and incredible 58th straight conference dual meet win. April 15 is "Tax Day" and the Lady Mustangs' varsity soccer team made Weston Ranch pay up Tuesday night. Oakdale scored a season-high 11 goals in the shutout win over the Cougars.

Baseball Postseason In Jeopardy After Loss To Sierra

After a promising start for first year manager Nathan Gregory and the Oakdale varsity baseball Mustangs, the team has fallen on hard times as of late. After being swept by Manteca the previous week (Oakdale was outscored 10-0 during the two-game series), Oakdale bounced back with a non-league 5-1 victory over Tokay on Friday, April 11 and managed a 5-4 victory over Sierra in Manteca on Tuesday, April 15. Oakdale Varsity Boys Swept By Manteca

It was as close to a playoff atmosphere as a game in April can be, as the varsity Mustangs approached the midway point to a promising baseball season. Approximately 150 fans made their way to the ballpark to watch the Mustangs host the Buffaloes of Manteca this past week. The battle included two of the Valley Oak League's premier pitchers as Oakdale's Bryce Dyrda, who signed with USC, took on Manteca's lefty, Jacob Corn, who signed to a fellow PAC12 school, Oregon. Golfers Corral Spartans, Jaguars In VOL Play

Spring has officially sprung and the weather was perfect for a round of nine hole golf action at Oakdale's Golf and Country Club on Tuesday afternoon, April 8. Oakdale High School golfers welcomed Lathrop to town for a Valley Oak League match. The Mustangs found their stroke as they defeated Lathrop with a score of 248-289.

Varsity Baseball - Mustangs Blank Visiting Weston Ranch

The Mustangs varsity baseball team is off to a white hot start to the season and it continued to show on Wednesday, April 2 when the team shut out Weston Ranch 11-0 in front of the Oakdale faithful. The game was originally scheduled for Tuesday, April 1 but it was postponed to severe weather.

Oakdale Golf Splits Pair Of VOL Matches

The Mustangs golf team was on the road for a pair of Valley Oak League (VOL) matches this past week. They played Tuesday, April 1 against Manteca and Thursday, April 3 against Sierra, with both matches held at Manteca Park Golf Course. Oakdale walked away with a 242-257 victory against Manteca and just fell short 230-244 against Sierra.

Dyrda, Mustangs Sweep East Union

The Mustangs faced East Union twice this past week. On Tuesday, March 25 the boys packed up and headed to Manteca to face the Lancers in Valley Oak League action, then returned home to face the Lancers again in front of the Mustang faithful on Thursday, March 27. The Mustangs were impressive in the sweep, winning 13-0 and 11-1.

Tee Time - Oakdale Golf Gets Back Into The Swing

It was a busy week for Oakdale golfers and coaching staff. With three events in four days scheduled it was time to hit the links. On Monday, March 3 the Oakdale High School golf team hosted its inaugural 18-hole Oakdale Cup at the Oakdale Golf and Country Club. The tournament consisted of 10 schools in the area with a total of 59 golfers.
