Early Season Success For Mustang Wrestlers

Coming off their huge performance at the 40th James Riddle Tournament where six Mustang grapplers took first place honors, Oakdale made their presence felt at the Marty Manges Invite at Casa Robles High School. Nine wrestlers finished in the top 10. Three Oakdale wrestlers were named champions, a trio of grapplers took second place, the Mustangs had a pair of third place finishers and an eighth place 220-pounder. The Mustangs took first place as a team to claim their second tournament victory in as many tries in 2015.

Mustangs Still Searching For First Basketball Win

It is very early in a long season for the boys' varsity basketball team. Under first year head coach Hondo Arpoika, the boys have hit early season woes after their 54-26 home loss to Gregori on Saturday night, Dec. 19.

Season-Ending Water Polo Hardware, Honors Presented

In a recent ceremony, the 2015 Oakdale High School Water Polo teams were honored. Both varsity teams enjoyed postseason success as the boys won a first round playoff game 10-8 over Bear River. Oakdale's Jared Kahler scored six of the goals for the team in that thrilling victory. Nate Van Cleave led the team in assists in the game with four. Their impressive performances in the postseason, as well as during the regular season, led the two of them to a shared Most Valuable Player award, along with Spencer Lee. Lady Mustangs Notch Fifth Victory On Court

Last season the Lady Mustangs varsity basketball team went 5-22 overall. In just six games, the 2015-2016 team has matched that win total after they put away Hilmar 37-29.

Coach Ford Looks To Change Culture

The Lady Mustangs varsity basketball team took on some new faces this offseason. Oakdale's varsity coach Justin Schwitters, who took over the reins in 2011, stepped down and Julie Ford answered the call to be the new varsity head coach.

Mustangs Rope In VOL Football Honors

In a season that was injury plagued, the Oakdale Mustangs football team never used that as an excuse. Instead they buckled their chin straps and battled on the gridiron and 95 percent of the time, came out as victors, going 12-2 overall in 2015.

Lady Mustang Hoops Split Non-League Games

The Oakdale Lady Mustangs varsity basketball team is off to 4-1 start thus far in 2015. Oakdale spilt a pair of non-league games as the team knocked off visiting Riverbank on Tuesday 43-20, but fell to visiting Calaveras on Wednesday night, Dec 9.

Varsity Mustangs Fall To Summerville

The Oakdale varsity Mustangs boys basketball team may be 0-3 and struggling early this season, but the team has had its bright moments. On the positive side, for the first time since camp opened, first-year head coach Hondo Arpoika has enough players on his roster to run a full five-on-five practice, as numerous fall sports athletes recently made their 2015 basketball debut.

Oakdale's competitive Under 19 Insanity soccer girls kicked off their winter season with a hard fought 1-1 tie against Sacramento on Saturday at T.L. Davis sports complex. Here, Logan Laugero corrals the ball and keeps her opponent at bay during second half action. Both goals came in the second half, Oakdale taking the lead on a Vanessa Kualapai goal, Sacramento getting the equalizer and the teams settling for the 1-1 draw.
