Superintendent’s Spotlight: Good News In Tough Times

I was very pleased to be invited by the Oakdale Chamber of Commerce to present the Oakdale Junior Achievement Award nominees' profiles at the Annual Awards Banquet. There were seven outstanding Oakdale High School students nominated for this prestigious award. The award was presented the evening of January 15, but at the time I submitted this article, I did not know who won the award.

Our Red Hat Queen, Bonny Bianchi reports that members of Oakdale's Fun Lovin' Ladies welcomed in the New Year with a meeting and lunch at Café Bravo in Oakdale on January 6th. Plans are already in the works to visit Bocelli's Restaurant (Old Garlic House) for their second meeting of the New Year on February 3rd. Queen Bonny offers this reminder that if you need to cancel or have not made your reservation to attend a meeting, please call Gail (Cookie) at 847-0761 as we need to confirm with the restaurant as to how many ladies to expect.

At the Knights Ferry Community Club meeting, the "Ground Hog Dinner" was discussed. The dinner will be February 6th at the clubhouse. Doors open at 5:30. The club will provide the main dish and members will provide sides and desserts. The most important thing to bring is a "White Elephant" to raffle off. All should bring at least one item. Last year was so much fun and lots of laughs! Check around for that gift you were given that needs a new home or some "special" item. There will be a door prize. Put this date on your calendar!
