Oakdale Public Library officials are reminding local residents that the library at 151 S. First Ave. is a designated cooling center for the community.

Life Jacket Giveaway Friday

The Stanislaus County Sheriff's Department has received a grant from the California State Department of Health "Kid Plates" of 300 children sized life jackets. With the assistance of Safe Kids Stanislaus County a water safety education course will be provided, and life jackets will be given away to children under 18 years of age from low-income families.

Oakdale MMA Hosting Women’s Fitness Class

The Oakdale Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) Academy will be hosting a six-week class in women's fitness. This unique class will be led by Eloy Garza of Oakdale MMA. Garza encourages women of all ages to join his six-week program that will focus on cardio and toning. The first day of class will be held Tuesday, July 11 at 6 a.m.

Oakdale Wrestlers Host Event

Oakdale's wrestlers hosted a six-team scramble at Oakdale High School this past week. Teams from Tokay, Turlock, Pitman, Yucca Valley and Clovis North hit the gym for a youth wrestling scrimmage. Young wrestlers from the ages of eight up to high schoolers battled it out over the course of two days.

Oakdale Aquatics Masters Hit The Pool For Season

It was over 100 degrees in Oakdale on Saturday, June 17 and the Oakdale Aquatics Masters cooled off when the team hosted a five city meet in Oakdale. Teams from Lodi, Manteca, Tracy and Sonora competed against Oakdale in the first meet of the season.

Trio Of Oakdale Athletes Qualify For Junior Olympics

The annual Amateur Athletic Union (AAU) Region 22 Qualifier was hosted at Riverbank High School this past week. The prestigious youth event is normally held at Oakdale High School; however with the football field inside the all-weather OHS track being remodeled, the event was relocated.

Gators Go On The Road To Face Off With Turlock

Oakdale's youth swimming team, the Gators, hit the road this past weekend. The young swimmers packed up and visited Pitman High School in Turlock for a meet against the Turlock Aquatic Club. This was the Gators second meet of the year, and first on the road.

All-Star Football

Tis the season for All-Star football games in the Valley and the State Champion Oakdale Mustangs are riding into them. This past week Cullen Bearden was named Defensive MVP in the South's 30-17 victory over the North in the 44th annual Central California Lions Club All-Star Football Game in Tracy. The South squad was down 17-0 at the half, but Bearden and company rallied in the second half to take the win.
