ANTHONY JOHN (TONY) PADILLA

Tony was born in Taos, New Mexico and was a resident of Oakdale for 21 years. Tony loved spending time with his family and friends. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and formerly served as a member of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows. His favorite past-time was playing golf. His other hobbies included shooting pool, reading, and watching Westerns. He was a veteran of the US Army and worked as an Electroplater until his retirement.

BETTE LEE (COPPETTI) MILAM

Bette Lee (Coppetti) Milam, loving wife, mother, and grandmother went home to be with Jesus on August 9, 2016, after a year-long battle with cancer. Bette was born on June 21, 1946, in Oakdale, CA. She lived there most of her young life. After graduating from Oakdale High School, Bette continued her education at San Francisco State and the University Of California in San Francisco, CA where she earned her degree in Cytotechnology. George E Dunn passed away unexpectedly on August 15, 2016 at the age of 73 while camping in the Sierras. He was born on October 4, 1943 in Oakdale California to Cedric and Lois Dunn. George entered the Navy in 1961 after graduating high school, and retired in 1982. During the Navy he and his family lived in Norfolk, VA, Imperial Beach, CA and San Diego CA. Arlene J. Carpenter passed away Saturday night August 20, 2016 at the Oak Valley Care Center surrounded by her family. Born and raised in Patterson to Albert and Hilma Agadoni. She met her lifelong love Howard Carpenter during his milk truck deliveries in Patterson. They moved to Oakdale for Dad's grocery business where they raised their family. James Merlyn Titchenal passed on August 12, 2016 surrounded by his family one week prior to his 88th birthday. He was born on August 21, 1928 in Oakdale California to Jim and Pearl Titchenal. Knights Ferry News

Knights Ferry School got off to a great start with 120 enrolled. Our Valley Home students are excited as August 31st approaches. On Monday August 31st the students will visit the school library and the PTC scholastic book faire! Each year the Parent Teacher Club sponsors the book faire under the leadership of Michelle McKenzie and her dedicated crew! Our students are able to purchase terrific reading material perfectly suited for their age group. Special thanks to all those who work so hard to make this event happen for our students.

The 2016-2017 board members of the Oakdale Women's Club recently hosted a Get Acquainted Tea for new members at the Oakdale Golf and Country Club. ACE Receives Grant To Aid Modernization

The Altamont Corridor Express (ACE) was awarded $16,459,000 by the State of California through the California State Transportation Agency (CalSTA) as part of the Transit and Intercity Rail Capital Program (TIRCP) 2016 Awards. These funds are dispersed by the State to fund capital improvements and operational investments that will reduce greenhouse gas emissions and modernize California's intercity rail, and bus and rail transit systems.
