This familiar scene will play out again on Saturday, March 31 at Kerr Park, at the end of North Stearns Road, as the Kiwanis Club of Oakdale and the City of Oakdale host the 12th annual Kids Spring Fest. The 33rd Annual Stanislaus County Occupational Olympics and Career Exposition were held March 22 at the Stanislaus County Fairgrounds. Approximately 662 students from Stanislaus County high schools.

New Student Days Coming Up At MJC

Modesto Junior College will host its annual "New Student Day" events to enroll high school seniors and other first time students on Saturday, April 14 and Thursday, June 14 on East Campus, 435 College Ave., Modesto. Students meet at 8 a.m. in the Auditorium of the Performing and Media Arts Center. Attendance and campus parking are free.

Howard Training Center Taking New Direction

Howard Training Center (HTC) will be charting new courses of training for its 246 clients and 111 staff in Stanislaus County. The non-profit agency with three campuses in the county is responding to the new demands of the Workforce Innovation Opportunity Act of 2016. Executive Director Carla Strong said "that the traditional sheltered-workshop for training adults with disabilities will go away throughout our industry nationally" and be replaced by innovative programs that aim squarely for "Competitive-integrated-employment" for adults with disabilities.

Moorhouse Wins Soroptimist’s Motor Madness Top Prize

Soroptimist International of Oakdale hosted its annual Motor Madness fundraiser on Saturday, March 24, at the Gene Bianchi Community Center. Over 275 guests enjoyed a delicious variety of hors d'oeuvres and desserts as well as beer and wine tasting. Craig Moorhouse of Oakdale won the Grand Door Prize and will select from either a new Harley Davidson motorcycle or $10,000 cash.
