EDWARD CAMILLO BELLETTO

Edward Camillo Belletto, 91, of Oakdale passed away peacefully at his home on July 26, 2016. Ed was born the youngest child of Italian immigrants, Raymond and Margherita Belletto, on the family farm where he lived his entire life. He was a 1943 graduate of Oakdale High School. After graduation he served in the U.S. Navy stationed at Treasure Island and participated in the Okinawa Campaign. On May 7, 1949, he married 'the love of his life', Patricia Irwin. They were happily married for 67 years until her passing on May 9, 2016. They lived in the same house ...

Stanislaus County Appoints Behavioral Health Director

The Stanislaus County Board of Supervisors appointed Richard DeGette as the new Behavioral Health Director on Tuesday, July 19. Mr. DeGette will succeed current Director, Madelyn Schlaepfer, who is retiring after 24 years of dedicated service to the community.

There goes another month! August happenings: Aug. 4th is the Community Club dinner meeting 6:30 p.m. at the clubhouse. August 7th is Breakfast Sunday at the I.O.O.F. Hall from 8 a.m. to noon. August 9th the History and Museum Associates meet in Miller's Hall at 9:00 a.m. August 10th Oakdale High School starts. August 11th is the Knights Ferry School board meeting. August 15th Knights Ferry School starts, August 25th MAC meeting at 7:00 p.m. in the clubhouse.

Wrong-Way Driver Arrested For DUI, Hit-And-Run

Shortly after area police were issued a 'be on the lookout' for a wrong-way driver on Highway 108 between Oakdale and Riverbank on Saturday, July 23, around 9 p.m., officers from the California Highway Patrol ended up responding to a head-on collision and arrested an Oakdale man on suspicion of drunken driving after his pickup collided with another vehicle.

YES Company Production Celebrates 25th Anniversary

Stanislaus County Office of Education's YES (Youth Entertainment Stage) Company is producing the classic musical "Les Misérables, School Edition" to be performed at the Gallo Center for the Arts in Modesto. Tickets are now on sale at the Gallo Center for the Arts box office and online at www.galloarts.org. Now in its final week, remaining performances are July 28 and 29 at 7:30 p.m. and July 30 and 31 at 3 p.m.
