Veterans Meeting Monday In Oakdale

Local veterans' services and issues will be at the forefront when Oakdale plays host to the Stanislaus County Veterans Advisory Commission's monthly meeting scheduled for Monday, April 24 at 5:30 p.m. in the Oakdale City Council Chambers, 277 N. Second Ave.

Don was born in Weiser, Idaho to John and Nell Jackson on October 25, 1926. Don is survived by a brother James Jackson, his three children Bill (Nancy) Jackson, Terry Jackson, and Tom (Pam) Jackson, six grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren.

AL FAHEY

Al Fahey, a long-time resident of Oakdale, passed away Monday, April 10 at age 96. Al was the grandson of California pioneers, immigrants from Ireland, who worked in the gold fields surrounding Sonora. The family was among the original ranchers in Tuolumne County and later relocated to Oakdale. Being in a ranching family, Al said he grew up on the back of a horse.

Tennis Team Splits Foursome In VOL

A busy week saw the Oakdale Mustang tennis team on the court four times in as many days. Oakdale began the week on the road against Lathrop where they won 8-1 over the Spartans on Monday, April 10. Oakdale then clashed with Sierra on Tuesday, April 11 and came away with a 6-3 victory. The Mustangs then ran into a buzz saw in the Valley Oak League where they met with the top two teams in the league on Wednesday, April 12 falling to Central Catholic 2-7 and losing 9-0 on Thursday, April 13 to the Valley Oak League champions ...
