OID Plans Start To Water Season

The start of the 2013 Oakdale Irrigation District water season will be Monday, March 11. The OID Board of Directors unanimously approved the date in an action at the March 5 regular meeting.

OID Approves Annexation List

A revised list of parcels for agricultural annexation was approved by the Oakdale Irrigation District Board of Directors at its Feb. 19 regular meeting. The approval was for a total of 812.1 acres, owned by seven applicants, to be annexed. This item had been tabled at the prior OID meeting.

Dentists Focus On Family’s ‘Whole Health’

Husband and wife dentists, Drs. Rafael Cardenas and Mary Richmond opened Whole Health Dental at the corner of F Street and Lee Avenue in 2009. Dr. Richmond reported that they had a practice in Manteca for 25 years that was "too busy, too hectic" and they opened their practice in Oakdale to provide more one-on-one patient care.

OID To Revisit Select Parcel Annexation

The Oakdale Irrigation District Board of Directors chose to table an action item regarding the list of selected parcels for annexation at its Feb. 5 regular meeting. The item will come back before the board at the Feb. 19 regular meeting. OID General Manager Steve Knell said the board wants to make refinements to the selection criteria for the annexation, possibly by implementing a variance to increase the available water for annexed lands.

A Baker's Dozen - Aca Dec Team Takes Trophy

Oakdale High School has taken the academic championship trophy again, for the 13th time in a row. The OHS team beat out 11 other high schools, swept the top spots for individual high points, and also won the Super Quiz at the 33rd Annual Stanislaus County Academic Decathlon on Feb. 1-2 at Gregori High School, Modesto.

Oakdale School Board Partly Restores Salary Cuts

Oakdale Joint Unified School District employees will see a portion of their salaries restored in actions taken by the district Board of Trustees at the Feb. 4 regular meeting. The school district is able to meet the costs incurred.

Record Keepers: OHS Wins Academic Decathlon

Oakdale High School's winning record at the Stanislaus County Academic Decathlon has stayed intact for the 13th consecutive year. OHS brought the championship trophy back to Oakdale from the two-day event filled with interviews, speeches, and tests on Feb. 1-2 at Gregori High School in Modesto. The OHS team now advances to the state contest held in mid-March in Sacramento.

Oakdale High School has captured 12 successive Stanislaus County Academic Decathlon championship trophies. How the team fares at this year's competition will be revealed this weekend, Feb. 1-2, as they face off against nearly a dozen other high school teams in a series of interviews, speeches, and tests.
