Work has now started on another street project in town, this one on North Second Avenue between C and E streets. The project will include pavement, water and sewer main replacement and is being funded with a variety of city and tax funds. The work is on the street that normally allows access to the police department; access can be made from North Third.

The music of Remedy filled the air on Friday night, as the Concerts in the Park series continued at Oakdale's Dorada Park, offered through the Chamber of Commerce in cooperation with local sponsors. In the photos, the band croons a tune while, their drummer keeps the beat and, below, people packed in food, beverages and even plenty of family pets to enjoy the Friday night summer sounds. The final concert in the series is coming up this week, Aug. 26, with The Lodge Pole Pickers performing starting at 6:30 p.m.

Despite some concerns over mosquitoes ruining the party, the more than 650 youngsters ready to play soccer in the Oakdale Youth Soccer League this season were happy to get on the field Saturday, Aug. 20. A group of Under 6 Boys smile at the crowd as they run onto the field after being announced, while Lorin Odom, 12, provided a stellar rendition of the National Anthem before the team introductions. Oakdale's downtown weekly Farmer's Market, each Wednesday from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. on North Third Avenue, offers plenty of fun, farm fresh produce, entertainment and more. With a handful of weeks remaining, now is the time to take advantage of the outdoor market. It was another large crowd for the Friday night Concert in the Park on July 22 in Oakdale as Mark Macsenti and the Tailights band performed at the gazebo in Dorada Park. The crowd brought lawn chairs, blankets, food and beverages to settle in and enjoy the show. This week's concert, July 29, will feature Never 2 Late.
