Oakdale Volleyball Rallies To Big Wins

Oakdale High's varsity and junior varsity volleyball teams rallied to big wins in recent play. The varsity Mustangs topped Hughson in three games during their second-to-last preseason contest of the season on Thursday.

Varsity Football Mustangs Fall Hard to Turlock

Trailing 26-14 and on the cusp of overcoming a disastrous 20-0 deficit, Oakdale High's varsity football team lined up a defensive formation at Turlock's own 23 yard-line on third and nine, with intentions of getting the ball back to bring things within one score at four minutes remaining in the third quarter.

Oakdale High's girls and boys cross country runners got a taste of sharp talent in tri-meet scrimmage action with Escalon and Hughson on Thursday, Aug. 26 at Woodward Reservoir.Hughson's Becky Hobby dominated the girl's race with an easy top finish while Mustang runner Liz Erwin kicked strong to conclude as the first local girl. Mustangs Vanquish Vanden, Ready For Inderkum

Mustangs Upend Natomas In First Round Of Playoffs

Oakdale High defensive back Daniel Gazdik intercepted a desperation pass with just over three minutes to play and rumbled 45 yards for the finishing touch on a 36-0 blowout of Natomas in the first round of the Sac-Joaquin Section Division III playoffs on Friday at The Corral.The pass went awry after Oakdale defensive end Marcos Velasco crushed Natomas quarterback Jakori Ford just as he let loose.
