Crawford, Townsend Take On Hot Rod Reunion

The owner/driver team of Oakdale's Richard Townsend and Josh Crawford tackled the famed Famosa Raceway just north of Bakersfield on Oct. 19 and 21 to compete in the 21st Annual National Hot Rod Association California Hot Rod Reunion.

Fifty Oakdale Swimmers Take On USA Swim Meet

The year-round Oakdale Swim Team recently took fifty swimmers to a USA Swim meet at Roseville's October meet, which drew an attendance of over nine-hundred swimmers. Oakdale Swim Team coaches were happy to see personal bests across the board from beginning swimmer to experienced senior group swimmers. The local athletes achieved multiple Junior Olypmic, Far Western, and IMX qualifying time standards.

Riverbank Basketball Camp Begins Oct. 13

A boys and girls youth basketball camp sponsored by Riverbank High's girls basketball club begins on Saturday, Oct. 13 with a fee of only $25 for four hours of instruction by college and high school coaches and athletes. The camp will be held at the spacious Ray Fauria gymnasium and be available for grades second to eighth. The camp will run from 8 a.m. to noon (grades 2-5) and then 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. (grades 6-8). A tropical storm dubbed 'Hurricane Isaac' reached its fingers up the gulf and delivered a downpour, but through much perseverance and utilization of all the modern technology and informational resources, the National Hot Rod Association was able to get nearly all of the scheduled activities for Aug. 29 and Sept. 1 completed.

Almost Three In A Row In Sonoma

Will Power came into the GoPro IZOD Indy Car Grand Prix of Sonoma with a chance to make it three in a row. He had the fastest car during nearly every test and practice session over the weekend. He then qualified on the pole. Power led the first 17 laps until the first cycle of pit stops, at which time his Penske teammate (Ryan Briscoe) took the lead. He then led laps 21-40 before the second set of pit stops, where Briscoe would take over. When Power regained the lead on lap 44, it looked like a third consecutive win ...
