POSTED October 13, 2009 3:00 p.m.

It is definitely October; the Hitch’s Witch has run into the telephone pole on Orange Blossom Road! After all these years you would think she would look where she was going!

*****

Birthday greetings for the month of October go out to: Jim Boyer, Carol Davis, Bev Noe, Dick Muniain, Lisa Dolling, Owen Haskell, Glenda Maisel, Natalie Albarico, Wakely Konberg, Spenser Emrich, Kody Simons, Nathaniel Van Ryn, Mike Ohe, Lis Whalen, Emma Meiggs, Chaunte Seeds, Julia Nilsson, Alec Ray, Lisa Fogerty, Andrew Schlegel, Cheryl Hodge, Austin Page, Samantha Ballard, Tatyn Silva, Ivan Garcia, Faviola Garcia, Megan Lute, Paul Cassinetto, Dusty Hobbs and Nathan Lute.

*****

Knights Ferry Garden Club will not meet today, Oct. 14th, but will hold their meeting on October 21st at the clubhouse while working on pumpkin rolls. Please bring a sack lunch.

*****

The Knights Ferry School and Stanislaus County Office of Education will be offering Flu (regular) shots at the school on October 22nd from 2:30 to 4:30. The cost is $20 for adults and $10 for children. They will also offer the nasal spray vaccine. Anyone may partake of this offer.

*****

Remember the 50’s Dance this Friday, October 16th at the clubhouse. The cost is $15/person. This is a fun time with contests for the limbo, dress, hula-hoop, dancing etc. Once again there will be a chance to win a trip to Hawaii for a week. Dust off your blue suede shoes and join the crowd.

*****

There was an accident in the Ferry the other day and it was a “brown out” day for our fire station. The trucks had to come from Oakdale and Green Springs. Thank goodness no one was seriously injured.

*****

Stock up on Halloween candy, the school’s annual Halloween Parade will be Friday, October 30th at 12:15 p.m. Come and watch and hand out candy. It is pretty impressive!

*****

The Ice Cream Parlor is decorated for Halloween and will have a “Haunted Area” to go through!

*****

The Turkey Vultures are circling the Ferry again. Every year they arrive and spend time with us! Most vultures migrate to Mexico, but some stay here. The vultures have a well-developed sense of smell that allows them to locate their food.
