The following was sent to us by Willie Mullins.

"Valley Home Park was filled with thrills and chills on Saturday night. Of course the evening started off with everyone enjoying the exciting sounds of the San Francisco Giants World Series baseball game. As a radio blared the plays of the game, ghoulish shadowy creatures could be seen lurking behind trees and shrubbery. At one table there was candy a plenty? In another area a heartless butcher had set up shop... messy brains, helpless hands, loose eyeballs checked you out as you approached. Moans and groans could be heard coming from a dark, dismal side area. Then suddenly out of a dreary, scary dense fog filled area the National Anthem sounded through the park... wow, it was the 7th inning already... Creatures, some terribly scary and some creatures still wearing their Giants ball cap stopped and stood at attention...slowly one creature removed his ball cap and raised his hand over his heart, the park was filled with a deep sense of pride as all the creatures did the same. The sight of this spirit of the moment tribute to this great country in which we live moved some to tears. All this because one ten year old Giant fan removed his hat for the National Anthem!

As the evening was once again taken over by the Ghosts and Goblins, the fun, and laughter rang throughout our beautiful little Valley Home Park."

Valley Home 4 H President Jordan McCain would like to reminded everyone that Tuesday, November 6th (Election Day) is the monthly 4 H Community Meeting. It will once again be held in the Barette barn.

Happy Birthday wishes go out to Austin Dickens who turned 18 this month. By the way, Austin did you really go deer hunting on your birthday?

The Valley Home MAC was host to the Biannual Meeting of the Stanislaus County eight (Denair, Empire, Hickman, Keyes, Knights Ferry, South Modesto and Valley Home) Municipal Advisory Committees. It was scheduled for the guests to drive by or visit the Valley Home Community Park before the meeting as resident Kathy Shepherd was scheduled to report on the building of the park. Special guests in attendance were First District Stanislaus County Supervisor William O'Brien and wife, Stanislaus County CEO Monica Nino, Valley Home JSD Superintendent Rolanda Desrosiers-Lewis and husband and representatives of all eight MACs including Valley Home MAC members Nancy Osmundson (Chairman), Winnie Mullins, Kate Hart and Chris Hempleman.

The meeting was chaired by Raul Mendes of the CEO office who asked each MAC report on its special activities and accomplishments since the last biannual meeting. It was a nice meeting and the view out the open east doors of the Valley Home Fire Station was spectacular ... a clear evening after the fresh rains... looking at the clear foothills in bright sunshine. Wow... What a meeting! A big “thank you” is given to the fire department for their providing the meeting location. It was greatly appreciated.

Be sure to circle Saturday, November 3rd on your calendar and plan to join a special celebration for former Valley Home School Principal Harold Pope's 80th Birthday Celebration. It will be held from 1pm-4pm in the Valley Home School Multipurpose Room on the Pioneer Ave campus. In lieu of gifts, bring your birthday wishes and favorite memories. All families welcome. You will bless his day with your presence.
