Birthday greetings for the month of October go out to: Jim Boyer, Carol Davis, Bev Noe, Dick Muniain, Lisa Dolling, Glenda Maisel, Natalie Albarico, Wakely Konberg, Kody Simons, Nathaniel Van Ryn, Mike Ohe, Lis Whalen, Julia Nilsson, Alec Ray, Lisa Fogerty, Andrew Schlegel, Cheryl Hodge, Austin Page, Ivan Garcia, Faviola Garcia, Mark Muniain, Dusty Hobbs, Dave Sturtevant, Lenin Palafox, Rennay Flemings and Bailey Stepp.

The Hitch’s Witch had a little trouble this year. A new pole was erected by the old one in front of the Hitch home on Orange Blossom and the witch completely lost her bearings and SMACKED into the old pole. Guess it is almost Halloween!

Carol Davis was the recipient of the “Birthday Song” at the 50’s Roadhouse last Wednesday.

At the Knights Ferry School board meeting, Kym Cassaretto was sworn in as the new board member. The Board will hold a study session on October 27th. The API score of 851 was announced. An increase in the petty cash fund was voted on because with the price of gasoline sometimes Lynn Duckworth has to wait for funds to be transferred in to mow the lawns. The school band members are selling cookie dough for instrument repairs etc. The Kindergarten class went to the Community Garden and the Firehouse and Mrs. Holcomb reported all had a good time. Pat Johnson reported the Third and Fourth Graders went to Yosemite and it was the first time for many students. They learned about the Indian culture and geology of the area. Tasha Sweet showed the T-shirt design done by Rilyn Cassaretto for the Jog-A-Thon. It was a running bobcat, the school mascot.

Gather your large bags of candy for the annual KFS parade through the Ferry on Halloween at noon. This is a fun event where you get to see all the costumes and hand out treats. Bring a chair and goodies to watch the parade.

The 49th annual Pumpkin Roll will be held November 4th with breakfast, craft booths, food and of course the ROLL down the street. There are trophies for the ones getting closest to the line in each category.
