Valley Home News for October 10, 2012

POSTED October 9, 2012 10:41 p.m.

Brrr! What was that noise? Do you feel that sudden chill in the air? Word is that the chill has nothing to do with "Old Man Winter", instead it is the forerunner of the Halloween festivities due to arrive this coming Saturday night! Beware! Beware! Ghosts and goblins have sent word that our Valley Home Community is scheduled for a special evening of Halloween fun! Spirits will abound and offer an invitation to the brave of heart to enter and tour their Haunted House and offer an invitation to visit their creepy abode!

In addition, we have been told that there will be a fun assortment of games and prizes to be won! Tickets for the various games are priced at 50 cents each or you may purchase a wristband for $5.

A special raffle item will be available this year, a first for the fun event! It will be a 42 inch Plasma 3D HD television set. Tickets for the item are on sale now for $2 each, thanks to Mountain Mike's Pizza, Conlin Supply and Ag-source Magazine!

Returning this year by popular demand is the Mid-Valley Ag Services, Inc Pumpkin contests. The event is free to enter the contests. Pumpkins may be entered in 5 categories...Giant Pumpkin which will be judged by weight, Best-Decorated, Best-Carved, Most Perfect and Strangest-Shaped Pumpkin! Come and see Hallie Smith and her friends to order the pumpkins at 3:30 p.m. and be ready to carve up a winner!

Gather around for the costume contest, that is always one of the highlights of the evening for young and old alike! See if you can guess which one will be selected a winner!

One of the most popular activities offered is always the Silent Auction with the class baskets and many priceless items donated by local businesses. Lots of "goodies" to be found here!

Ferrarese's Deli is providing a delicious dinner again this year, thanks to the hard work and generosity of Gina Betschart and her family!

Join in the fun-filled evening of activities which begin at 4 p.m. and closes at 8 p.m. The carnival activities will end at 7 p.m., but the Silent Auction inside the gym will continue until 8 p.m.

Weather was absolutely perfect and the food delicious at the annual Lobsterfest 2012 hosted by the Art and Tami Tharpe and family members. The Lobster Flag was seen fluttering in the breeze promising an evening of good food and companionship. Tables covered with red checkered table cloths and the necessary items for enjoying the lobster dinner.

What a wonderful opportunity to relax and enjoy a delicious dinner of lobster dipped in butter, and visit with friends and neighbors! An evening to remember throughout the coming year and served up in a beautiful garden setting.

If you have not already done so, be certain to circle October 23rd on your calendar and plan to attend the Fall Biannual County MAC Meeting being hosted by our Valley Home MAC and being held in our Valley Home Community Park from 5:30 p.m. - 7:30 p.m.

Valley Home was well represented at the first playoff game between our SF Giants and Cincinnati Reds on Saturday.

Attending the game were Ron and Darlene Brady. And taking in their first playoff game were Brooke and Garret Bryhni and their friend Gabby. Sadly, the Giants lost. (That may be the last one they attend.)

Michael Walliman and Will Benedix will both enjoy birthday celebrations held in their honor on October 12th. Happy Birthday to both young men.
