Bill and Kay Martinelli had an exchange student from Sweden for 10 days. Franscesca loved the heat; it is very cold back home. She spent the school days at Oakdale High shadowing Hanna Holland around.

Andrew Schlegel is in Basic Training at Ft. Benning, Georgia.

There are still some spaces for crafters at the Knights Ferry Pumpkin Roll. Call Kim at 602-6619.

Ellen Wearin, her daughter Amanda Stepp, two granddaughters Emily and Madeline Stepp, Amanda’s mother-in-law Kathy, Amanda’s sister-in-law Janaine and her daughter Kourtney spent 10 days touring Paris and Rome. The group stayed in an apartment in Paris so got to live like the locals. They visited the Eiffel Tower, the Louvre, Versailles, Arch de Triumph and conquered the Metro in Paris. In Rome they visited the Vatican, Collosium, St. Peter’s Basillica, Piazza de Nervona, Café Victor Hugo, and did some wine tasting. Being a history buff, Ellen really enjoyed the trip. Ellen said the French and Romans were very friendly. Emily and Kourtney turned 16 over there and this was a great celebration.

At Knights Ferry School the students can be caught doing good deeds at recess and have their name put in a jar for a drawing at the end of each month. September winners were Dakota Voortman and Denali Benson. Good show girls!

Remember to save Box Tops for Education for the school.

At the Community Club meeting the new pumpkin roll T-shirt design was unveiled. Everything is set for the Roll on November 4th. Unfortunately the Salmon Festival is the Saturday before the Roll, like last year, and it is so much for families to do in one weekend that attendance drops.

Carol Davis, Margie Morris, Mary Grace Langford and Aty Colman have returned from a 12-day trip to the East coast.

They spent two days in Boston seeing all the sights including the Kennedy Library. Next they got on a cruise ship for a trip to Bar Harbor, Maine, and the Acadia National Park, then on to Halifax, Nova Scotia, and up the St. Lawrence River to Quebec and Montreal. The return trip home was a 6-hour wait in O’Hare airport then home. Carol loved the museums in the old homes and lots of lobster! The colors were just beginning to turn. It was a good trip and the cruise ship delightful.
