Luther Armstrong, 81, died Wednesday, Aug. 29 in Valley Home after a long battle with cancer with his loving family nearby.

He was born in Longview, Texas to John Wesley Armstrong and Velma Gordon Skillern. He graduated from El Cerrito High School and attended some colleges.

Mr. Armstrong was an Army veteran and worked at Oakland Naval Supply in warehouse management for 35 years. After retiring he moved to live in Oakdale with his daughter and grandchildren.

He is survived by his children, Yvonne R. Crow-Morris, Vincent L. Armstrong, Rory D. Armstrong, Synthia L. (Armstrong) Jones, Darren L. Armstrong; one aunt; three grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and friends.

A life celebration will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 8 at Victory In Praise Church, 3124 McHenry Ave., Modesto.
