The Oakdale Stampede Pee Wee team walked away with a one-point victory a week ago and the squad followed up the win with another one point win over the Merced Cougars 13-12.

Oakdale pushed themselves into the driver’s seat with a 19-yard touchdown run from Logan Hall on the first play of the first quarter tying the game up at 12-12 with a little under a full quarter remaining.

The Stampede took the lead for good when Blake Whiting took the PAT attempt to the house on a tremendous effort to give the Stampede a one-point lead.

“He got hit on the 2-yard line,” Oakdale head coach Derek Lasiter said. “And then he powered his way into the end zone.”

The lead was safe as the Stampede held on for the victory behind a solid effort on the defensive end.

Oakdale dominated the time of possession, putting together nearly 50 plays on offense, while the Cougars were held to just 27. Michael Everett led the valiant Oakdale defensive effort while teammates Hunter Falconi and Logan Hall both tallied interceptions.

The Pee-Wees hope to keep their perfect league record intact when they bang helmets with the Ceres Seahawks in their next AFC contest.

The JV squad came up just short on Saturday, losing to the Cougars 24-6, while the varsity Stampede fell to Merced 25-14.

Oakdale will make the trip to Ceres for their action with the Seahawks on Sept. 26. The Rookies will get things under way with a 9:30 a.m. kickoff.
