Clues Sought In Rape

POSTED June 19, 2012 8:41 p.m.

Oakdale Police have brought in additional resources in the hopes of cracking a recent case that has put the community on edge.

IT technicians have been brought in to review the surveillance footage belonging to the Oakdale High School in the hopes of gaining more leads in the reported kidnap and rape of a 16-year-old girl Wednesday afternoon, June 13.

According to police reports, the girl was walking home from Oakdale High School when an unknown male subject in the 600 block of West J Street approached the girl from behind and threatened her with a knife. He forced her into a truck and covered her eyes with an unknown item. He drove to an unknown location near Oakdale, forced the girl to remove her clothes and raped her. Afterward, he made the girl dress and then dropped her off in an undisclosed area of Oakdale. The suspect had threatened to kill the girl if she told anyone.

The vehicle is described as a mid-sized “boxy” type pickup, black in color, with a tinted rear window and damage to the passenger side door and bed area (described as damage typically sustained in a T-bone type collision). The paint on the hood is peeling off and there are two black stock type wheels on one side and two chrome or aluminum type wheels on the other side.

The male suspect is possibly in his 40s, of unknown race, and speaks English.

Police have received more than 100 tips from community members who believe they’ve seen the black truck in question.

The Oakdale Unified School District sent out an alert through its automated phone tree, reminding parents to tell their children to remain vigilant and aware of their surroundings. The case is still under investigation.

Anyone with information in regards to this case is urged to call Det. Brian Shimmel with the Oakdale Police Department at 209-847-2231.
