Wilma “Gladys” McCullough

Wilma “Gladys” McCullough, 84, died Sunday, June 3 at her Riverbank home, surrounded by her loving family after a long battle with Alzheimer’s.

She was born in Muskogee, Okla.; she was one of nine children.

She and her husband Earl lived in Riverbank, where they raised their five children, in the home they built together.
Mrs. McCullough retired from Tri-Valley Growers after 25 years.

Her interests included traveling to Alaska, Oregon, Idaho, and Texas to visit with family.

She loved the ocean, reading, watching Jeopardy, and her beloved Chihuahua companion “Phoebe” that she called “the smartest dog in town.”

She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

She is survived by her children, Paul (Nina) McCullough of Nampa, Idaho, Janet McCullough of Riverbank, Earl Duane (Mary Jo) McCullough of Oakdale, Mary Leighton of Riverbank, Cathy (George) Carssow of Brownsville, Ore.; one brother, Chester T. Hunt of Modesto; 14 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren; and three great-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Earl D. McCullough; and seven siblings.

A graveside memorial service was held June 12 at Lakewood Memorial Park, Hughson.
