As the final stop in the Graffiti ’12 Park & Shines week-long event, Performance Dyno Tuning (PDT) and Al’s Furniture teamed up to offer a free lunch during PDT’s open house, Friday, June 8 in Oakdale.

More than 200 cars, from vintage to hot rod, to dune buggy to Mustang, parked grill to grill within the PDT property on South Fifth Avenue and more than 400 people enjoyed a little small-town hospitality with a free home-cooked meal.

“It went really good,” said Steve Borja, co-owner of PDT. “We got to talk to a lot of potential customers.”

Other locations on the tour ahead of the Graffiti Weekend in downtown Modesto included several stops in Modesto and Riverbank.

Legendary custom car builder Gene Winfield was on hand at the Oakdale event as the celebrity of the moment, hanging out and chatting with people before the parade in Modesto later that evening. Winfield has designed cars for Hollywood films and television shows, including the full-sized prop of the “Star Trek” Galileo shuttlecraft.

It took a year’s worth of planning but the event was a success, which means, the coordinators are already planning for next year’s event.

“I think next year we’ll plan to shut down the street,” Borja said.

PDT is managed by Willie Leach.
