The public is invited to an open house event at the Willowood Drive fire station Friday, March 23 from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. where three Oakdale City firefighters will receive their promotional badge pinning.

The ceremony will start at 4 p.m.; the open house and refreshments will immediately follow.

The following Oakdale City firefighters will be promoted:

Daniel James Bergquist, 25, grew up in the fire service and as such, always wanted to be a firefighter. His father is a fire captain with Modesto Fire Department. Daniel Bergquist has been with the Oakdale City Fire Department for four years and is being promoted to engineer.

“I’m thankful to all my family and friends, my parents; Chuck and Robyn, brother and sister; Amber and Zac, and especially my wife Michelle, I couldn’t have done any of this without you. We are truly blessed with everything 2012 has brought to us so far, with the promotion to engineer and that Michelle and I are expecting our first child,” Bergquist said of his promotion.

Brian Michael Rotan

Brian Rotan, 27, is from Riverbank where he attended school from kindergarten to high school, graduating from Riverbank High in 2002. He is married to wife, Emilie and has two children, Aiden, 4, and Aubrie, 19 months. On his off-time, he enjoys sports and any outside activity.

Rotan was hired by the Oakdale City Fire Department in 2005 as a firefighter before promoting to engineer two years later. He has been acting as an engineer for the past four years.

“I’m excited for the opportunity,” Rotan said of his promotion.

Louie Morua

Louie Morua, 39, of Oakdale is married to registered nurse Michelle and has two children, Joseph, 5, and Naya, 3. He was a firefighter for six years, and a relief specialist for two-and-a-half years. He has an AA degree in fire science and is a graduate of Chabot Fire Academy. Before turning to fire service as a career, he served in the Marine Reserves for four years, was a Union ironworker for 10 years, and is currently an EMT instructor at Modesto Junior College.
