Roberto Ariza-Moran, 68, died on Saturday, Feb. 25 at UC Davis Medical Center due to his weak heart, extreme burns, and infection.
He was born in Chinantla, Puebla, Mexico. He resided in Mexico before coming to the United States as a bracero (farm worker). Several years later he chose to live in the United States.
Mr. Ariza-Moran maintained employment by working as a mechanic, selling firewood, metal, and fruit when not seasonally employed at the local cannery.
He was an intelligent man illustrated through the machinery he created by welding. He will be missed.
He is survived by his longtime companion, Ana Delia Morfin; his children, Sylvia Ariza, Jairo Ariza, Maribel Ariza, Roberto Ariza Jr., Diana Ariza, Vanessa Ariza, and Jose Ariza.
A viewing will be held from 9 a.m. to noon on Thursday, March 1 with a service to immediately follow at the Salas Bros. Funeral Chapel, 419 Scenic Drive, Modesto.
Relatives and friends are welcome at the viewing and service. Burial will be at Ceres Memorial Park, 1801 East Whitmore Ave., Ceres.
