POSTED February 21, 2012 11:42 p.m.

Margarette Mary Marconett, 85, of Escalon, passed away on Thursday, Feb. 9, 2012 at Doctors’ Hospital in Modesto.
She was born on March 9, 1926 in Pendleton, Oregon, to Samuel and Metha Thomas. She had one other sibling, her sister Ruth, with whom she remained close friends throughout her life.
She grew up in the Oakdale area, and on Feb. 14, 1948, she married Arthur Marconett in Riverbank, California, where they made their first home. While he was an aircraft tech sergeant, she was occupied as a homemaker. They lived in Central and Southern California for a time, and eventually settled in Escalon. They had two sons, Alan and Bruce.
Mrs. Marconett spent her life serving the Lord and helping others. She spent many years in the Assemblies of God as a Sunday School teacher, as the director for the Women’s Missionary Council, and she also began the church prayer chain, which continues to this day. Her greatest passion was for others to come to know her Lord in the same close way that she did.
Survivors include her children, Alan (Carol) Marconett of Scotts Valley, Bruce (Julie) Marconett of Escalon; her grandchildren, Andre (Sylvia) Marconett of San Carlos, Pat (Crystal) Marconett of Sun Valley, and David Marconett of Escalon; her sister, Ruth Park of Escalon, and many nephews, nieces, cousins, in-laws and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur Marconett in 1983, and several in-laws.
The family wishes to thank everyone for the many prayers, encouraging words, cards and visits to Margarette over the last year or so.
Interment was Friday, Feb. 17 at Burwood Cemetery, Escalon.
Her Celebration of Life followed at Trinity Church in Escalon, officiated by Pastor Jim Davis. Arrangements were by Deegan Funeral Chapel of Escalon.
Memorials may be made in her name, in lieu of flowers, to Trinity Church Memorial Fund (designated “Missions”).
