Preserve Our Farmland

POSTED November 15, 2011 3:37 p.m.

Dear Editor,

I am disappointed and confused on why Oakdale’s mayor Pat Paul would “question the rationale for preserving farmland…”

Preserve it because once it is gone, it will never return. Many of us moved to this area precisely because there is farmland here…we love the look, the smell and the productivity of this land. Even if as Pat says “…much of the soils around Oakdale have poor quality”, these lands are still allowing this Valley to be rural and evidently allow farmers, ranchers and dairymen to exist.

Respectfully,

Don Brock
