Valley Home residents need to be on the alert! We have just received word that a U-Haul truck has been seen in the area and witnesses have seen its occupants break into cars and steal the contents. It was seen on Pioneer Avenue close to the schools.
Jenna Heaton was overheard at the Fair giving much praise to friend, Travis Kent. Travis is a great showman and helped Jenna show her meat goat at the fair, even though he had never shown a goat before. Good job, Travis! The Swine group had a great showing at the Fair. Thanks to Kathy Bryhni for all her hard work. Special thanks also to Ryan Nuegenbauer…what would we do without you! Valley Home Horse group had a wonderful showing, thanks to the dedication and work of our Horse Leader, Shawn Hayes. Valley Home Sheep group had a great showing, as always, Bret and Cheri Martin and family, thank you. The Meat Goat group had a great showing with many top showmen and goats. Great job Scott Heaton and his helpers. Special thanks to Earl Fife, who always gives so much, not only to his beef group, but to all who need his help.
School started off very nicely with a Kindergarten welcome. Members of the Valley Home PTC were there and setting up at 7:45 a.m. and to their surprise there was not a whole lot of traffic. We received word from PTC president, Lisa Jones, that when she took her Kindergartner into class about 8 a.m. to be with her teacher, Mrs. Rathbun, half the class was already there. Parents came out of the classroom, stopped to pick up PTC information, the bell schedule and enjoyed muffins and water provided by the PTC.
The first PTC meeting for the semester was held on Thursday. Lots of new faces in attendance. About 25 parents were able to attend, and all were welcomed with a coupon good towards purchase of “Spirit Wear” shirts.
Lisa also shares the news that the next event hosted by the PTC will be Back-2-School Graffiti Night on Friday, August 28th at 6 p.m. Have a vehicle or motorcycle to enter in the event? There are no fees. Sign up is available at both school sites, Waffle Factory and Oakdale Locksmith. Yum! Free root beer floats for all to cool down on a Hot August Night; Lisa invites everyone to come and enjoy the sights with us!
Election of two members for the Valley Home Joint School District Board will be held on the First Tuesday in November. Susan Calvin, Businesswoman and Ron Smith, Incumbent are candidates for the office. Nominations are closed.
Valley Home MAC has three member positions available.  Sharon Hofmann is a candidate for one of the positions and nominations are also closed.
The regular August meeting of the Valley Home MAC will be held tonight, Wednesday, August 19th at 6:30 p.m. in the Harold Pope School Library at 4600 Texas Ave., Valley Home. The agenda of tonight’s meeting includes reports from Sheriff Department’s representative Lt. Darin Charat, California Highway Patrol Officer Chuck Leon, County Animal Services representative Dorothy DiGino, a Valley Home Community Center representative and a representative from the County Parks & Recreation Department in addition to council comments and a report from Chief Executive Office representative Raul Mendez. You do not want to miss this meeting. Much local community news and information will be disseminated.
We offer loads of Happy Anniversary wishes from all their Valley Home friends to Gene and Billie Benedix, whose special day is August 20th.
Jeff Burghardt will celebrate his 22nd birthday on Thursday and Glen Cobb will celebrate his special day on August 22nd. Many Happy Returns of the Day to both!
We hear Tavia Sherman celebrated her birthday with an overnight party with friends followed with a wild shopping spree to the mall. Many Happy Returns, Tavia!
