Annual Festival Welcomes In Fall Season

POSTED October 18, 2011 9:16 p.m.

Pony rides, face painting and the petting zoo were a few of the main attractions at the annual Bloomingcamp Ranch Octoberfest hosted on Oct. 15 and 16. Bloomingcamp’s has been staging the fall festival for around 25 years.
“We’ve had a beautiful day. I personally have really enjoyed the event,” said Joy Bloomingcamp.
Families lined up for hay rides offered by Lloyd Stueve of Stueve’s Certified Organic Dairy in Oakdale. Stueve’s team of horses pulled riders around for a better view of Bloomingcamp Ranch. Children also enjoyed playing cowboy while riding ponies. The Orange Blossom 4H club ran a petting zoo and offered face painting for kids.
The bakery was open for the event, offering several types of pie and other baked goods by Peitez Lavender. Bloomingcamp’s Dutch apple pie was among the classic recipes offered at the bakery. There were also a variety of arts, crafts and commercial vendors at the Octoberfest. Attendance reportedly was down from previous years, but the weather cooperated better than last year, when it rained.
