Jesse L. Stanley

POSTED September 13, 2011 9:40 p.m.

Jesse L. Stanley, 77, died Thursday, Aug. 11 in his wife’s arms after a lengthy illness.
He and his wife lived in Oakdale since 1986.
He was a well-respected land surveyor, both locally and in five other states for more than 50 years.
He was employed by Giuliani & Kull Civil Engineering and Land Surveying, Oakdale.
He loved being a land surveyor and being outdoors, frequently saying, “It can’t get any better than this.” He never found a land survey he couldn’t do, he loved the challenges.
He learned his surveying skills in the U.S. Forest Service. He was also a Calaveras County Deputy Sheriff for many years.
Mr. Stanley made friends wherever he worked, even the dogs that barked at him. While working, every dog, cow, horse, and goat would have him and his transit surrounded, curious as to what he was doing.
He is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Barbara; sons, Monty and Jeffrey; daughters, Tammy, Teresa, Jeanette; and seven grandchildren.
