On Thursday, July 14, the city’s Small Business Development Center at 142 South Second Avenue opened.

The endeavor is a partnership with the Stanislaus Economic Development Center and Workforce Alliance that has been providing business training in Oakdale for several years.

The city is providing the space for the center at no cost and is also providing $10,000 from redevelopment funds.

“This is one of the final projects the city has done with redevelopment money,” said Oakdale Mayor Pat Paul at the official opening. “As you know the state shut down city redevelopment agencies and took their funds.

The center will serve prospective and existing small business owners through business training programs and free, one-on-one confidential counseling by consultants who use their real-life business ownership and management experience to offer practical and relevant advice.
