Marjorie L. Wood

Marjorie L. Wood, 81, died peacefully on Saturday, July 2.
She was born in Dillon, Mont.
Mrs. Wood was a longtime elementary school teacher. She began teaching in 1951 in St. Ignatius, Mont. She then taught in Laurel, Mont.; Reno, Nev.; and Anchorage, Alaska. In 1961 she taught in Riverbank. Next was Eastside Elementary in Oakdale. Then, she taught for 19 years at Fair Oaks Elementary and 10 more years at Magnolia Elementary, both in Oakdale.
She enjoyed serving Thanksgiving and Christmas dinners at the Community Center and delivering library books to those who could not travel to the library. She enjoyed her morning walks and fitness routine with friends. She also enjoyed traveling to many places such as South Africa, Hong Kong, Spain, and Ireland with her friends.
Her family thanks her caretaker Cecilia Lozano for the loving care provided in recent years.
She is survived by her sons, John Wood of Oakdale, Don Wood of Warren, Mich.; brother, Francis Pettit of Forrest Grove, Ore.; one grandson; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her brother, Dale Pettit of Dillon, Mont.
A memorial service will be held from 12p.m. to 3p.m. on Saturday, July 16 in Oakdale. Call 312-0708 for details.
