One of the closest races in the Oakdale Invitational on June 11 was a tight thriller in the 9-10 50 meter breast stroke, when Dustin VandenBosch of the Oakdale Gators out-touched the second place finisher by just five one hundredths of a second to win the event. He would go on to claim second in the 100 free, join a first place 100 free relay and second place 100 medley relay as well in a very successful event for the young swimmer.
   VandenBosch was a big part of Oakdale scoring in the meet, and earns an Athlete of the Week nod from The Leader for his early season success and continued dedication to the Gators swim program.
    With area swimmers gunning for fast finishes in the 9-10 division, VandenBosch will look to keep up the hard work and aim for a number of firsts during a busy season in the pool.
