Susan G. ‘Susie’ Camp

Susan G. ‘Susie’ Camp, 51, died Wednesday, June 1.
She was a lifelong resident of Oakdale.
She was a proud graduate from Modesto Junior College and earned her A.S. degree with honors in the Administration of Justice.
Mrs. Camp was raised in a large family with meager resources and knew first hand what it was like to do with little at Christmas time. After her mother’s death in 2002, she started the Oakdale Community Spirit Tree that provided gifts for over 700 needy children and elderly in the Oakdale area. She was awarded a Paul Harris Fellowship from Oakdale Rotary for her many hours of work on the Spirit Tree.
She was active in the Oakdale community and a charter member of Oakdale Sunrise Rotary.
She is survived by her husband of 23 years, Bill Camp; son, James Dunn; daughter, Sarah (Geno) Urias; stepson, Ryan Camp; brothers Donny, Tommy, and Ernie; sisters, Alice, Jan, Patty, Lynette, Jeanette, and Connie; stepfather Ernest Freitas; and grandchildren, Mike Dunn, Amanda Dunn and Waylon Urias.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Marion Freitas and Robert Eddings; brothers, Jimmy and Kenneth Eddings; and grandson, Jacob Urias.
A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, June 11 at Oak Lawn Memorial Park, Oakdale. A celebration of life will follow.
