Shocked by the devastation and loss of life in Joplin, Missouri as a result of the recent tornado, the owners of Gilton Solid Waste Management are spearheading a local effort to provide relief supplies to the many people suffering. In the next week, Gilton will haul donated materials, volunteers, and company employees to Missouri to distribute supplies and help in any way possible. The trucks and personnel plan to leave Wednesday, June 1. Any type of non-perishable food, clothing, bedding and personal hygiene items donated to assist displaced people would be greatly appreciated. Gilton will pick up any donated materials, or materials can be delivered to their corporate office at 755 S. Yosemite Ave. in Oakdale. For more information, call 527-3781.
