The park, which opened in August 2010, is showing severe wear to the fenced-in turf areas where the dogs are allowed to play, roam, and lightheartedly chase each other without the requirement of being tethered to their owner.
In a recent report to the city council, the public works department expressed the need to have the park closed for brief periods in March and August for maintenance to reseed, aerate, and fertilize the turf of the dog run area.
